Minor Deadline Day Deals

At that price Kinkaid might have been an interesting option for improving the back up goalie spot.

Yeah, I thought that too. His numbers this season are pretty rough though.

I wonder what Pittsburgh will do with their rash of injuries.
i.e. will they require the services of Stanley Cup Champion 1D Ron Hainsey.

Looks like it was for Lemiuex and 1st Rd pick. Man, when did these 1st Round picks become candy? I thought teams were going to get a lot tighter with them. I liked Hayes, thought he'd be a good addition but man the prices seem steep this year. Is it ever really a buyer's market if all buyers suddenly think it's Toronto's housing market circa 2015?

Seeing them moved like this could be an indication scouts think this is a shallow draft pool.

Clearly my Stone to Calgary prediction almost came true. But this isn't horseshoes and hand grenades, so close enough doesn't cut it.

So the sens have probably lost Calgary and certainly lost Winnipeg as potential Stone suitors because their price was too high. Probably leaves Boston (who doesn't really have a very appealing prospect pool) and Vegas as the most interested parties left.

Nope now if he goes elsewhere you can still get credit for calling that Stone is going to be traded.  You are officially an NHL insider.

It's felt like the likely way this played out has always been for him the stay in Ottawa, as it seems like they're pretty intent on re-signing him. So, when he leaves as a UFA for nothing, it'll be great.

The Jets lottery-protected their first rounder here. They're currently 1st in the Central and 13 points above the 9th place team in the West. They did the same thing last year with the Paul Stastny trade too when they obviously had a playoff spot locked up. I mean there's no harm in it I guess but kinda weird.

Can't be too safe I guess?? Very weird indeed.

I'd say it is completely logical.  If neither party expects the pick to be in the lottery range and the receiver of the pick won't pay for the possibility it might be in the lottery range then excluding the possibility it will be in that range is sensible.

lol.  let's hope so.  I wouldn't accept anything less than a first rounder for our top-line d man.

Maybe it just establishes a precedent that they always protect their first round picks.  If they decide not to it seems like it's them giving up more?  I don't know.  Yeah, this one isn't really a pick that is going to fall into the lottery.

This seems like a pretty good buy-low move by Colorado. They're currently 1 point behind Minny for the final playoff spot in the West, and they also have a game in hand.

They picked Gudbranson instead. Absolutely not worth its own thread.
