1. Kadri
2. Frattin
3. Franson

Biggest surprise
1. Kostka
2. Fraser
3. JVR / Scrivens
Honorable mention Komarov

Kadri- most improved

Team defence is biggest suprise for me. I think its the main reason our goalies have been good, hardly any 2nd or 3rd shots anymore.

Most improved: Franson

Biggest surprise: Franson

Honestly didn't think it was going to happen for him in Toronto.  Looked like Carlyle wasn't going to get any more out of him than Wilson but something finally clicked and he's taken off.  Could be a very very valuable piece of the puzzle going forward now.

Biggest surprise: Kostka, only in the sense that he's still here and still effective.  Usually guys like him who make it like this end up flaming out after 10 games or so.  I think Gardiner may push him out of the lineup eventually but we shall see.

Most improved:  Leafs defensive system.

Biggest surprise 1:  The Leafs are in playoff contention and look really solid 1/3 into the season.

Biggest surprise 2:  benching, demoting or trading away players with big salaries in favour of players with less experience, but who are playing great - Kostka, Komarev, Holzer, Fraser, etc.

I think Kadri is probably the most improved player from last year to this one. I think I'm probably most surprised by how well Scrivens has played with Reimer out.

I felt the exact same way.  I felt it was time to move Franson along but, boy oh boy, has he ever been playing well the last few games.  The pass on JVR's second goal last night was elite.

Most improved the defence part of our game. They now have a coach that can get it done.

biggest suprise. none I knew this team had what it took to step it up.

The chemistry that is developing, kudo's to JFJ, Burke, Nonis, Carlyle, Eakins and all the players whom are stepping it  up.

Since we're doing overall team surprises, a nice surprise is the fact the Leafs aren't out of the game even after giving up the first goal.  Leafs are 5-4 when trailing first in the game.  That's a pretty good mark, team is always in games.

He's pretty terrible in the defensive zone, or at least the last few games has been, but he's making up for it with his offensive ability.  He's so much better than Kostka on the 1st PP it's not even funny.

I don't know about terrible in the defensive zone. He makes far less gaffs than the 6 million dollar man Lee Majors Dion Phaneuf.

Kadri and Franson have improved the most.

The biggest surprise to me is how well Randy Carlyle's system has worked for the Leafs this season.

Kadri is the most improved. Not only in his play but in his attitude.

The biggest surprise to me has been Grabovski. That is, I'm surprised at how out of place he is on this team. It looks like he's playing shinny when he's out there. He doesn't have chemistry with anyone. Not only is he not on the same page, he's reading a completely different book. Just looks totally lost, and frankly outclassed as Carlyle usually has him playing against the other teams best line.
