Murray To Penguins

Penguins have acquired Douglas Murray from the Sharks, price still unknown.

Should help them on d ala Hal Gill, pretty reliable guy with a physical edge.

EDIT: Looks like picks going to the Sharks, pair of 2nd rounders.

From what I've read, he hasn't been very good at all this season.

I'll post a link when he does:

@SteveBurtch

I'm posting an article later tonight that will explain the math behind it... but yeah - he's literally the worst D man in the NHL right now.

He's a big, physical guy with some serious mobility issues. The Sharks are a fairly slow team, though, so, the issue may have been compounded there.

LOL.  Wow.

That is very steep, no chance I'd pay that price.

If it is a sellers market, we could potentially pick up some 1st rounders for Mac, Bozie and Liles.

Ha, yeah I'm curious to read this one and the methodology behind it.

If pretty much any other team in the league made these trades they'd be laughed at (not that some people aren't laughing right now). They acquired two physical but aging/declining players and paid one heck of a price in both trades.

But Morrow was expendable because of their deep defensive prospect pool, and the two seconds will be more like two thirds considering where they draft. And again their prospect pool can take that hit.

If they win the Cup, they look amazing. If they don't, well they're still set up for a few more Cup runs in the future. But maybe in those years they won't be able to throw away these types of assets as easily.

It will be a bunch of cherry picked advanced stats, other facts ignored because they don't support his point, and a conclusion drawn from those things, plus the undertone that if you don't agree you are stupid becasue numbers. That's how he always puts it together.

Sorry I'm a bit jaded with his stuff. had many the argument with him and they don't usually end well.

Steep price for THAT guy. Yikes!... and judging by the market so far, man, we have to consider some selling.

Definitely. The team has enough defensive depth that you'd think they'll be moving a body or two. Mac is a bit tougher call (that I'd be okay with). I can't see Bozak being moved, all things considered - he's the kind of player the team would miss in the playoffs and down the stretch without replacing him with some kind of equivalent (so why move him in the first place?).

I'm at the point where I think Joe Colborne could replace the production of Bozak.

I think he's a better passer, but probably weaker on the draw.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: More on Murray deal: the 2nd pick in 2014 based on Pitt winning 2 playoff rounds OR resigning him and if neither occurs, it's a 3rd in 2014

Bozak:  The man people love to hate, irrationally.
