Ottawa Senators (@Senators) general manager Pierre Dorion announced today that the club has dismissed head coach Dave Cameron and assistant coaches Andre Tourigny and Rick Wamsley. Assistant coach Jason Smith has been relieved of his coaching duties and has been offered another position within the organization.
Cameron, 57, became the 11th head coach in franchise history when he was promoted to the position on Dec. 8, 2014. Prior to his appointment as head coach, he spent the previous three-plus seasons as an assistant coach with the Senators, after initially being hired by the club on June 23, 2011. Cameron has a career National Hockey League head coaching record of 70-50-17 (.537, 137 games).
Tourigny, 41, joined the Senators coaching staff on July 1, 2015. He spent the two previous campaigns as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche. Prior to joining the Avalanche, he served as the head coach and general manager of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League?s Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
Wamsley, 56, was hired by the club on July 28, 2010. A former NHL goaltender who played 407 games with the Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens, he worked previously with the Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis and Toronto.

I really don't think the problem there has been bad coaching.

Just that this and the GM hire seem to be a step in the right direction.
CarltonTheBear said:Marc Crawford is joining Boucher as his associate coach. They both coached in the Swiss league for the past few seasons after their last NHL dismissals. Crawford's NHL resume is pretty dismal, but maybe he learned a thing or two over in Switzerland. And he of course won't the head coach in this situation.
