Good five minute interview with Pat talking Leafs and their rebuild.

I watched it yesterday and though it was pretty good, and the best part? Landsberg wasnt as big an idiot as he usually is.... I like Pat

I still love ol' Pat.

He made some good points. He didn't really step on anyone's toes, but I think he did speak his mind more freely than I thought. He called out Brian a bit for trading away the first rounders and also humbled himself by stating he made that mistake as well.

I also liked his take on the team trading away players too quickly for next to nothing.

The interview was a little too pessimistic though, it didn't ask Pat about any of the right moves or anything like that. I'd still love to have him back in a management role.

I know the man has class, but that interviews smacks of someone who doesn't want to piss off any future employers by bad mouthing one of his ex-employers.

He made a few good points about mistakes that were made, including his own, and he did so with an obvious attachment to the team ( 'I say we' ) while talking about the state of the perception of the game and how it's changing, I wish he had another 4 year run left in him, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I don't see any merit in excluding oneself from a field with few candidates, what's Pat supposed to say, 'Peddie greased and flayed me, boo hoo? 'Management totally misread the the state of change and turned their eyes to profit while the team was gutted'?

He does have class though. :)

We all know the beginning of the "end" and that was the decision to remove Pat as GM and the JFJ era of
mass incompetence. Too many to list here (again).

I do find it a little disingenuous to talk about trading 1st round picks away/building thru the draft when he did it too - although
JFJ did it every freaking year pretty much.

Landsberg is a little off the mark when he says the Leafs are in such "disarray" too. Not great but getting there. Usual
issue of a lack of a bonafide superstar - which you really only obtain thru the draft.

Repeating myself. Sorry.

I always thought he was good as a coach and a GM.  But he also had some talent over the seasons that were well down the path of development: Sundin, Molginy, Roberts, Stumpy etc.  Always wonder what all the ex players get up to with their $$$ when they finish playing.  For example:  What is Brad Marsh up to these days?
