Ottawa trades Lehner + Legwand to Buffalo for 21st overall pick

That...seems pretty stupid on Buffalo's part. Although I do think Legwand is a better player than he showed last year and at the deadline could easily become at least a 2nd round pick. So it's not exactly Lehner for a first.

Okay . . . ummm . . . didn't expect Lehner to get a 1st and cap relief for the sens. I'm gonna call nepotism on this one.

It's crazy to think that a few years ago the sens traded Bishop away for Cory Conacher because they felt that Lehner was the better goalie. Sure didn't sell low this time.

Of course the Sens now have to face a pissed off Lehner 6 times a year.

More than that their goaltending depth chart is:

1. A 34 year old who hasn't had a really good full season in 5 years
2. A 27 year old player with no record of consistent success at any level
3. A 23 year old undrafted college UFA

Lehner wasn't Henrik Lundqvist, no, but he'd have been my guess for who would be their starter two years from now.

Now if Murray can package both up and move us into the top 5 he's already won the GM of the year award for 2016

And if he flies he'll make a hell of a rocket ship.

I'd be shopping both Bernier and Reimer.  Take any firsts you can get.  We don't need stable goaltending right now, anyways.
