?Phaneuf and Lupul have both been ruled out for Tuesdays game
?Kozun and Granberg have been called up to fill up the spots vacacted by Santorelli and Franson

Interesting  ;)

I'm gonna stick by that. If Talbot gets traded there before the game I'll have one-up on Eklund!

It's really thoughtful of the league to give Phil a chance to meet his new teammates before he goes.

@MapleLeafs

Olli Jokinen will make his #Leafs debut tonight. #TMLtalk

If they're smart they'll give him 1st line minutes and #1 pp time at centre.

He goes on a run and he's tradable (not for much mind you but better than nothing), he sucks and the tank is preserved (with an added amount of hilarity).

Yes. Smart.

It's almost like they're trying to win. WTF?

It would probably be a tad too obvious if he started with Kessel right away. I give it a period or two. I'm 100% sure that the Leafs stuck with the Winnik-Kadri-Santorelli line because Kadri was helping both of those players trade values. It's too bad Jokinen can't play with Nazem.

That, or maybe they're trying to showcase him in a 3rd line role which is likely what he'd be acquired for (who am I kidding, a playoff team would only have a spot for him on the 4th).

I really don't think other GM's are that stupid.

They could always try Jokinen on the wing. What's the worst that could ha-

Neither do I, but I think the point is to give him the opportunity to show that he still has game left in him.

By his account he wasn't given any opportunity to produce in Nashville which could be a reason for his massive decline in production. He could go a long way to proving his point by getting an opportunity to show that.

Other GM's can judge based on the 2 situations (NSH vs. TOR) and the history of his production.

But they're going to know the difference between actually improved play and improved scoring numbers because of who his linemates are. Teams aren't going to trade for him to be a #1 centre/#1 PP player. They're going to trade for him, if at all, to be a depth forward in their bottom six. The best chance the Leafs have to sell a team on that is by putting him in that role and hoping he plays well.

Jokinen has played a total of 6 playoff games in his career.  It's not like he's a grizzled playoff veteran.  I doubt a GM is going to waste a roster spot on him.

But he has like 5 points in those 6 games! Plus, he's "hungry"!  :-D

He'd be a depth/bottom 6 acquisition. Teams aren't going to look at the fact that the 03-04 Panthers didn't make the playoffs and hold it against what he can do currently as a hockey player.

Maybe, but he's gonna be moving for a 6th or a 7th at best I'd imagine. It's possible a team picks him up as much to be insurance in the event a top 6 C gets hurt in the playoffs as much as to be a regular roster player.

If that's why they're picking him up, then might as well show (or not!) that side of his game too.

I'd just like to see him moved for something, so I'm all for getting a little hype going around the guy.
