Flyers are retaining 50% of Lecavalier's cap hit, so, he'll only count for ~$1M for LA this season (what with prorating and all). Schenn's got about $1.8M left, and I think LA has some LTIR space.
EDIT: They're retaining 50% on BOTH contracts, apparently, so, only about $2M on the cap for LA this season - and with Weal going out, and LTIR space from Greene, it works.

Vinny Lecavalier's agent Kent Hughes says it is his client's intention to retire at the end of this season.

L K said:Maybe I have LTIR wrong, but the cap savings only apply to the instant that you make the move to place a player on LTIR? So on December 15th, the Kings had 670ish in cap space so Greene would only be a savings of 1.8M and not his full 2.5M salary?
Nik the Trik said:Hey, if Lecavalier retires Tampa still has to pay him for his bought out contract, right? Or is it a lump sum thing or...?

They'd still have to pay.
