Porter Airlines?

Boston Leaf

New member
Has anyone used this airline? I am planning on flying out from Boston to Toronto for the Nov 8 Leafs Devils game/weekend.. I saw this airline flys into downtown? Just wondering if anyone had any experience with it. It would save me from having to rent a car I think

I haven't but a number of my coworkers travel a lot and they love Porter.  They groan and moan when they have to take another airline.

If I didn't work for the competition, I just might do that too. Not because Porter is any better - just because Pearson sucks.

Doesn't AC fly out of the island as well?

I've used Porter a number of times, great airline. If you live in the city, the island airport is much easier to get to than Pearson. I don't think they do it now, but they used to give free Steam Whistle tallboys on the flight. I think non-alcoholic drinks and snacks (and news papers) are all still free.

Yes. But to/from Boston? I'm not so sure. - I should probably know that.

Thank you all for the reply.. For the price (looks to be 306.00 US round trip) it will be worth it. This way I would not need to rent a car since the shuttle brings you downtown anyway. No worries about parking, gas or having a few cold ones at game.. Thanks again

Has anyone ever traveled to FL to catch a Panthers and/or Lightning vs. Leafs game?

A friend and I are considering this as an option this year.. May even throw in a deep sea fishing excursion while were down there as well.

Any advice?

I fly Porter to/from Boston via the island all the time.

The lounge is awesome with free cappuccino machines, cookies and other snacks and drink.  Also they still give a free beer or wine on the flight.

Love Porter. Have flown with them over 30 times. The lounge is great as has been mentioned. I love that you can get off the flight and walk right into the city, well, after a short ferry ride.

Plus, you get your drinks in a real glass, not a crappy plastic cup.  :D

My buddy is a pilot for Porter and used to live in Gillam where I grew up, I haven't had the chance to take porter yet as they don't have a Winnipeg flight right now. I would suggest Porter for the reason you stated, the shuttle takes you to downtown Toronto, which is where you are going to be, no need to rent a car or pay for transit from Pearson.

I'm fairly sure when I flew with Porter that the only AC flight I saw at the airport was to/from Montreal.

And I'll echo those who say Porter is great.  Free shuttle from downtown to the ferry/airport.  Took about 15 minutes for me to get from the Royal York to the security line at the airport.

We winter in Florida so we always try to get to a Leaf game when they play the Panthers. Sometimes we'll drive to Tampa for that game too.

This will be no surprise, but it is not hard to get Panther tickets. Here's the funny part - you can get them for less than face value from the scalpers! Having said that, I usually get the tickets from StubHub. We've gotten seats at centre ice, 8-10 rows up - perfect really. (And cheap. Really, really cheap) The arena is across the road from the Sawgrass Mills Mall, which is, I believe, the largest outlet mall in the US.

Tampa is a tougher ticket - and more expensive too. The arena is located on the water. There is a hotel (Marriott I think) right across from it. The team usually stays there, if you care about that sort of thing.

Also - Porter Airlines rock! When they serve you a drink on the flight, it's in an actual glass.

Was speaking to someone who flies quite a bit on Porter and says they're wonderful - Unless you're over 6'0". Not really a ton of room.

Thanks for the reply. I think we may actually stay at Ramada, and spend time on 7th Ave after the game. From what I'm reading online, that is where most of the nightlife is. But on a Tuesday... Well see. Itll be an interesting trip nonetheless if it happens.

A relative of ours took Porter Airlines and was quite pleased with the service.  As it's moto implies, "Flying refined".  Definitely!
