Could start seeing a line-up closer to what we'll get on opening night. We'll have roster information throughout the morning.

I wasn't sure which group he was refering to, but I know Babcock skated one of the groups to death yesterday, I wanna say it was the veterans.

Either way, he mentioned that the other one was the team that would play pretty much. So looking at the groups from yesterday, it's likely one of them plays tonight.

Personally I think he might play the Vets tonight, the kids the first game of the weekend B2B and then his ideal lineup in the last pre-season game.

Lines from Paul Hendrick:

JVR-Bozak-Boyes
Matthias-Kadri-Lupul
Brown-Nylander-Grabner
Clune-Spaling-Parenteau

Hunwick-Phaneuf
Gardiner-Rielly
Harrington-Marincin

Top-6 forwards and top-4 defence in place.

Lazy Frank E question, but what have the FO% numbers looked like for Kadri and Bozak during pre-season?

NHL.com doesn't accumulate pre-season stats.

Which should probably tell us all something.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if there was another source.

That 3rd line could be fun to watch, it'll be interesting if Nylander stands out again, we'll probably start seeing some more "Is he too good for the AHL?" stuff from the media.

Media: "Is he too good for the AHL?"

*Nylander gets called up and makes a turnover*

Media: "Did the Leafs call up Nyladner too soon?"

For the record though, I really don't think the media will make a fuss about him being in the AHL. They seem to be buying the teams official excuse of wanting him to learn how to be a pro and play a complete game and all that jazz.

Siegel and Masters both have Clune playing with Nylander and Brown on the 3rd line. That'll be fun.

Looks like the Marlies top line (maybe), if Clune can keep up.

Who the heck is Clune?

Dubas signed him to an AHL contract as potential protection for Nylander. Shortly before signing, he authored/authorized the article below:

Where was it said he was signed as protection for Nylander?

It'll be a mostly NHL-filled line-up for Buffalo tonight too, these are their forward lines:

Kane-R. O'Reilly-Ennis
Moulson-Eichel-Gionta
Rodrigues-C. O'Reilly-Reinhart
Foligno-Legwand-Deslauriers

You know, I can't seem to find the reference, and it might have been a comment I internalized as fact. Sorry about that.

He talked a bit about the need to have that type of presence when they signed Justin Johnson to an AHL-deal: http://kylethereporter.com/2015/08/28/leafs-looking-to-protect-their-future-investments/

I'd be pretty floored though if Clune played an everyday, top-6 role for the Marlies when you consider the wingers that Keefe will have available to him.

For all the talk of suspending Patrick Kane.  Why no word from the NHL/Sabres on fining/suspending Ryan O'Reilly for driving drunk into a Tim Hortons and then leaving the scene.  Seems like driving drunk along should get some form of punishment, but doing a hit and run too?

I think that it's relevant to the whole Mike Richards saga too. Caught with pain killers? Contract terminated. Driving under the influence/hit & run? Well, the team sure isn't penalizing him in any way, and I doubt the league gives him anything more than a fine too.
