R1, G1: Lightning @ Leafs - May 2nd, 7:30pm - CBC, Fan 590

By my quick calculations, the Leafs were outhit 56-35, which doesn?t matter to me in the least. But I mention it because if the Leafs had lost 5-0, I guarantee there would be multiple talking heads telling us that Tampa outhitting the Leafs 56-35 was a big reason why Tampa won.

NSFW, but I enjoyed the Iron Sheik's take on Corey Perry on Twitter. ;D

Did you see Dany Heatley's tweet on Jon Cooper? I laughed for way too long

I didn't, and can't seem to find it!

Haha, sorry it's the Dany Heatley parody account.

Yes, folks, the fix was in.

Obviously, it was the officials who kept Tampa from scoring on the 5 minute PP. I thought that was clear to everyone.

Methot has very clearly/blatantly been leaning hard into the anti-Leafs thing for awhile now in an attempt to build up his online following/turn that into a bigger media job. Paying any attention to him, even mockingly, is basically just helping him succeed.

With hot takes like that, he'll be great on Ottawa region radio broadcasts. And nowhere else.

What did Simmonds even do?

He turned back and defended his teammates, which, clearly, is not sportsmanlike.

Ok actually I missed what happened during the commercial break. Simmonds going after Hedman right after things calmed down (which then caused things to explode again) is probably worthy of a fine.

I didn't day it last night, but I was worried about Reilly's hand after his fights. Hope there isn't more to come out of this than those fines which seem
... Fine? Also, yeah, I really hate Perry.

Rielly's misconduct was for getting into a second fight defending Blackwell from being double-teamed. I am not sure his first one was technically a fight.

Bellemare and Blackwell reminds me of this

I think Maroon should have gotten more for just wailing on a defenseless Rielly.

Originally, I was of the same thought, but the video shows Maroon was reacting to Simmonds grabbing Hedman (note: not punching an unwilling partner, just grabbing).

Also, the fix:

The puck being next to the line doesn't mean  the puck crossed the line: Twitter idiots.

I'm sure I'd be a lot more upset if that goal mattered at all but as is I'm fine with the call. It was called a no-goal on the ice and the replay is close enough that maybe that whole paralax or whatever angle stuff came into play here to make it look inconclusive. It was probably a goal though.

The bigger question is how is it the year 2022 and the NHL still hasn't been able to figure out a way to conclusively determine if a puck crossed a goal line even with a camera directly above it.

I was surprised Sportsnet didn't show what happened. After the commercial ESPN spent minutes and repeated replays showing exactly what happened.
