Where I work they won't shut down for a moment of silence. Unfortunately for them I'm shutting down every machine and person that I have authority over.

I will most likely get in trouble for shutting production down for 2 minutes.

I worked for a bank for 17 years. It was easy, they closed on Nov 11, and had a huge wreath with poppies up in the front foyer for the few days preceding the 11th. Now I'm at a grocery store, and heaven forbid we do anything to interrupt the almighty buck for a moment  >:(    I'm sure the management will be busy putting up Christmas decorations and stock today, while expecting us to manage our lineups with fewer and fewer cashiers and baggers.

It makes me both sad and angry that on this, the day set aside to remember those who gave their lives so we could live ours with the freedoms we enjoy, the company that employs me doesn't do something to at least show our appreciation to those brave men.

When I worked in our call center, one year the manager came around to sinc all our computers to make sure that none of us observed no more than 60 seconds. I think that's when I officially decided that management with my current employer wasn't for me. How petty. Anywho... Thankfully I'm off today and can go and see my kids Remembrance Day assembly.

Much love and thanks to all the vets.

Good for you!
