RFAs - Kadri, Bernier, Marincin

Assuming the Leafs don't make any more free agent signings or bigger trades the Leafs how have more than a full complement of NHL players aside from their three remaining RFAs.

Forwards ($34,230,000): JVR, Bozak, Lupul, Komarov, Spaling, Winnik, Parenteau, Arcobello, Panik, Holland, Horton, Hyman, Bailey, Frattin, Leivo

Defense ($20,346,687): Phaneuf, Rielly, Gardiner, Polak, Robidas, Hunwick, Percy, Harrington

Goaltending ($2,300,000): Reimer

Buyout/Retained ($3,283,333): Kessel, Gunnarsson, Gleason

Total: $60,160,020

That's a roster of 15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 1 goaltender.  Obviously some of those forwards and at least one defenseman are going to be playing in the minors and Nathan Horton will be moved to the LTIR once the season starts. Most likely to be shifted to the minors would be Casey Bailey, Matt Frattin, Josh Leivo and Stuart Percy.

So even with an inflated roster the Leafs still have $11,239,980 and will likely have something in the realm of 19 million in cap space.

So what kind of salary are we looking at for Bernier, Kadri and Marincin.

I would imagine that Kadri would be looking at a bridge deal right now given that he is coming off a rough profile season.  Something in the 2 years 4.5-5M range I would imagine.

Looking at other goaltenders deals this year (Niemi - 4.5M, Jones - 3.0M, Ramo - 3.8M) I would imagine again we are probably looking somewhere in the 4.0-4.5M range on a bridge deal.

Marincin is coming off his rookie contract so I'm thinking something in the 2-2.5M range is what he will get.

All should easily fit under the cap with a solid 8 million or so to play with for salary retention down the road at the deadline.  The Leafs will also have 48 contracts assuming they don't resign Troy Bodie to be a veteran on the Marlies so they do have some room to make 2 for 1 type deals or pick up a guy off waivers during the season.

I'd be okay with Kadri at 3 yrs 4.3 mil. At the end of that deal, we'd know if Marner or Nylander either supplant him or if Kadri should be spun off for a critical component. He's looking for long term, but his slightly down season and public suspension probably aren't helping his cause much. It would also line him up with JvR (and Bozak and Komarov if they're still around).

Bernier is harder to read because goalies are voodoo. I'd do 2 years at 4.5 mil max.

Marincin looks promising @ 2.5 mil. When does he hit UFA?
