Time sadly caught up with America's oldest teenager.

Dick Clark, the iconic TV host and producer who put younger folks to shame with his work ethic and energy until he was slowed by a stroke eight years ago, has died. He was 82.

He really wasn't the same after that stroke. Still, he did things in those last 8 years that I will never do in my lifetime.

I wonder how the autistic/savant twin ladies that idolize him are taking the news.

Rip Dick

I talked to my mom earlier this week and she told me that American Bandstand was one of the first shows she ever saw on TV when she came to Canada as a teenager.

It's weird to even think of my mom watching teenagers dance and wanting to be a part of it. Way too weird.

But that's the legacy Dick Clark has left me. What a son of a.....

Seriously though, there was a time when the American Music Awards that he started drew more viewers than the Grammys.

I don't know how many times I've seen him drop that ball on New Year's Eve.

RIP Mr. Clark

One in a billion.

Rest in Peace, DicK Clark.

Many of us that know, will always respect the music and musicians that has/have come and gone, from the past to the present.  That includes the many memories of eras gone by, enjoyed by those who weren't even the 'flower children' of another time -- the beginnings of the DicK Clark legacy.

I may have grown up with the music of The Bee Gees (my favorite group), but I also grew up and respected the sweet sounds that were such a part of my family's era.

When I think of Dick Clark, I think of American Bandstand.  It seems weird to hear it like some afterthought.  At least I'm not old enough to remember the Leafs winning the Cup.
