I don't really get what happened.

From what I gather this is the person who transferred the call to the nurse who divulged the info.

I've been trying to piece this together but the articles I've read don't do a good job as to what happened exactly. Woman transfered to nurse. Nurse gave info about duchess. Probably breach of privacy? The woman who tranx call committed suicide? That's the jist?

I think the 2 nurses have been getting a lot of flack from everyone about the prank as well.  Also we don't know history of nurse who committed suicide, this may have been the last straw??

LONDON -- A nurse was found hanging in her room three days after she had been duped by a hoax call from Australian DJs about the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, a U.K. inquest was told Thursday. The case is being treated as an apparent suicide.
Saldanha answered the phone last week when two Australian disc jockeys called seeking information about the former Kate Middleton, who was being treated for severe morning sickness. The DJs impersonated Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, and Saldanha was tricked into transferring the call to another nurse, who revealed private details about the duchess' condition.

The DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, apologized for the prank in emotional interviews on Australian television, saying they never expected their call would be put through. The show was taken off the air and the DJs have been suspended.

Tragic consequences.  Stupid prank.  Idiotic DJs.

How ridiculous. It's awful for the nurse and her family, no doubt about that,  but to put additional blame on the DJ's is completely nonsensical. The weird thing is that is was another person who divulged all the info; this nurse just transferred the call.

What's really ridiculous is the media's behaviour.  These DJs deserve a suspension.  What they did to impersonate the Queen and Prince Philip reeks of a low point.  They should apologize to the Quenn for that!

Have they not learned since the time of Diana?  For heaven's sakes, cut the Royals some slack.  Leave a pregnant woman alone.  Otherwise, do it respectably, or, not at all!

Yeah, let's be real, the DJ's couldn't have possibly foreseen this. At worst what they did was embarrass someone but the reality is that every single prank call made by any radio DJ ever has the potential to embarrass someone.

I was listening to an australian reporter/radio host. According to him, Australia has a law that states you must announce that your phone call was/is a prank by the end of the phone call.

I really don't want to pass judgment on this woman. But I simply can't understand how someone could do this to themselves and their family over something like this.

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this incident is probably not the whole story as to her condition/decision.

That's my guess. This incident might be what put her over the edge, but it's likely not what got her there in the first place.
