If you include his years totals, Moulson has 14G 14A.

Although that still shouldn't include him in a list of Sabres statistical leaders.

Anywho, I think I can't help but feel there's a lot of people who, when the Leafs were playing a team on the second night of a back to back said stuff like "The Leafs have no excuse for beating what should be a tired team" who, when the Leafs are in that situation, make for no such allowances.

While I agree with the what you are saying, Buffalo played last night too so it doesn't really apply here.

So what's people's assessment of Myers?  Bust?  Mishandled?

I don't watch a ton of Sabres games but I don't think it's either. I think he came up on a team with a lot of good veteran players and a world-best level goalie who hid a lot of his mistakes and since then has seen his team stripped for talent and said goalie's play fall off which has exposed him a little.

It's important to keep in mind though that he's still Gardiner's age, 5 years of service notwithstanding.

True. I was making a more general point.

I agree with you on Myers. I don't think that Buffalo should have jumped to the big deal they gave him, or is that being too obvious?

I feel that contracts play a bigger role in a players psych'y' and a teams expectations on the other side of it.

I don't know. I'm kind of of the opinion that if there's a player out there who's going to get derailed or lose motivation because of a big pay day...it's going to happen anyway. Lots of good young players get big paydays and keep working at it.

Obviously the contract looks bad now but it's such a long term deal that, while I know this is anathema to our "over analyze everything right away" sort of tendencies it's such a long contract(it takes him until he's 28) that it's really only going to be able to be properly evaluated once he hits some of those UFA years they paid a premium for.

Ultimately, it might look like a pretty smart deal when everything is said and done.

Maybe, I'm certainly not totally writing him off, there's plenty of time for the team and him to turn it around. But I'm one to stick to the bridge deals for RFA players, unless it's an undeniable star player.

Good thoughts on Myers.  The thing about him is that he's got the frame to (if built out) approach becoming a Chara-like player.  Chara's a good defenseman, but I wouldn't say his skill set is off the charts; he uses his reach and physicality very well to play at an elite level.  But you win Cups with guys like him (rare as they are).  In fact, having a player like him (or Pronger, Stevens) almost always leads to a team being a contender.

After having a good goalie, I'd say having a big, physical defenseman is a centerpiece of most perennial contenders.

So I guess if I were BUF I'd be very patient with him.

I want to see Reimer play, put up a first star shutout, and make for a real dilemma for who gets the following start.

I'd love to see that too. Because it means the Leafs will win.

I don't think it will matter much on who gets the following start. I'm under the impression that, at this point, Bernier is clearly both management's and the coach's guy.

What line did Holland play on against the Bruins (I didnt see the game). How much ice time and did he play well?

3rd Line with Kulemin and Clarkson.  Played about 10-12 min.
