Second Round: New York vs. Carolina

This will be an interesting study in contrast.

High event + play control bunch of jerks vs upstart low-event counter attacking outfit riding a SV% for the ages.

A true who gives a crap series. Think Islanders because of their stingy defence but want Canes to shut up the Isles fans.

Islanders in 6.  If Lehner continues his goaltending mastery, (thanks to ?goaltending guru? Mitch Koran who joined the Islanders organization at the request of coach Barry Trotz), and the Isles little thing Carolina to death and continue on offensively, then why wouldn?t they win it.

Compared to the ?Canes, Pittsburgh seemed ?antiquated?.  It didn?t prove too difficult a task for the Islanders to vanquish them.

The score for this series could be close (looking at regular season stats) but I still think Islanders will prevail.

Tavares rooting for Islanders:

A lot of guys I?ve had very close friendships with and were a big part of my life for a long time, I still talk to them frequently,? Tavares said. ?It?s great to see them doing well. They had a great first round and have a great opportunity.?

The Isles' unsustainably high PDO is coming home to roost. Carolina winning makes a lot of sense to me. They play a great team game that can prop up average goaltending.

"Stanley Cup Champion Greg McKegg" is not something I'm prepared for.

McBackup having a great game tonight too. I'm happy for him. He always seemed like such a nice guy to it's good to see him rise to the occasion yet again.

Canes win 5-2....up 3-0 in the series. 1 more win to get rid of the obnoxious Isles fans. "We don't need you".....in the playoffs anymore.

Yup. Hurricanes are a good story. I think CBJ-CAR Eastern Final would be interesting. Not traditional but very interesting. SCF otoh might be meehhh.

Isles on the brink. Hopefully they fall back to earth next year.

I hope it's a sweep and then somebody trolls them with a "Congratulations on making it to the second round, Islanders!  Why don't you put it on a big banner and put it up there in the rafters with all your other legends?"
