I guess I don't feel as happy about this as even though I dislike the Sens, they've been so crap for so long that I kind of feel their pain. What with our losing out on Seguin and Hamilton and all....

Jack Hughes in Colorado. Man I'm glad the Avs are in the West.

It's very nice of our division (except for Ottawa) to start picking it up this year and really trying to go for it on points.

That really has to go down as one of the biggest trading blunders if this happens.  Not just for the fact that they're losing Hughes, but they had the opportunity to give their 1st pick away this summer and keep the upcoming lottery pick, but no, they had to draft Brady Tkachuck in a year they knew they'd be bottom feeders.  I mean he may turn out to be a fine winger, but he's not in the same class as Hughes.  It really boggles the mind.  When they saw the Duchene thing blowing up in their face they *still* could have done the right thing by keeping this year's pick and they decided not to.  Why?  Melynk?

And what happens if Ottawa doesn't win the lottery? They wouldn't have Hughes or Brady who I think will be a very good player, much like his brother. We'll see if it was a good move or not soon enough.

If they gave up last year's pick, worst case scenario was they ended up with a prospect of a similar calibre to Tkachuk a year later. Now, best case scenario, is that they've given up a prospect only as good as Tkachuck.

Yeah. The reason they kept last years pick is because they foolishly believed they could be a better team this season. If they recognized they were pretty much guaranteed a bottom-5/3 finish like the rest of the world did then they would have given it up.

It's funny though. You wonder how much of that is actually on management and how much of it comes from Melnyk simply refusing to deal with reality and allowing the team to rebuild.

I mean absent the Hoffman/Karlsson ridiculousness this year, I think there's a chance one or both of those guys is still around as Melnyk tries desperately for another grab of playoff revenue.

Exactly right.  The funny thing is they're already last overall in the league, so they have the best odds of winning the lottery, and they haven't even traded Duchene or Stone.  They should have embraced the tank, given last summer's pick to Colorado and trade the above mentioned guys for as much as you could get, which would probably be a lot.  If they won the lottery and got Hughes, + the picks/prospects they could have gotten for the other 2, they might have turned around the team quickly.

I love seeing the sens in last place.

GO LEAFS GO!

Seeing Anahiem, Chicago, Detroit, LA, NJ, and Ottawa as 6 of the bottom 7 teams in the NHL is quite a change.

I approve.  The Wheel of Fortune is turning.

I think this thing is missing some sort of Sens probability multiplier. If the Sens finish last, there's about a 95% chance that pick is going to hit for #1

I feel bad for them too.  Edmonton is also super sad ...

How much do you think Boucher hates Mike Babcock?
its reverse psychology, we better watch out or we may get Stone(d) or Matt(ed) up. I think it is scary that two goalies are named Anderson (en) but spelled differently.  Like some alternate universe...not! :o

19 months ago the Ottawa Senators were within one goal of making the Stanley Cup Final.

Also, if anyone has the nic cage ytube link pls PM me. thx
