TBH, I just think it will end up that way. IMO, it is just more Melnyk penny pinching in spending of actual salary.
Brassard already had a 2M bonus paid, followed by two seasons of just 3.5 M of actual salary. 3M actual salary left this season.
Zibanejad is a pending RFA. His Actual SALARY this season is would have cost Melnyk $250 K more. He will be paid $3 250 000 in the coming season of actual salary. How much do you think he signs for after that?
