The Toronto Blue Jays (23-28), after having had a successful series versus the Texas Rangers in which they took two out of three, now meet the Cincinnati Reds (24-26), a team they last played against not since 2014.

The Reds, powered by Joey Votto who comes back to his hometown, had a similarly successful month as the Jays have had, in which they went 13-12 .
(The Jays have are so far 15-10).

Much of the Reds' credit can go to the powerhouse hitter Votto who is fourth in the N.L. in runs, has had an on-base percentage of over .414 for the past eight of nine seasons.  Indeed, Cincinnati's go-to guy in many a category.

As for the Jays,  it will mark the return of starter J.A. Happ after a lengthy time on the DL.  Also, one hot Blue Jay (no, ladies not like that) is Jose Bautista who has had in this month of May seven homeruns & 18 RBI.  Definitely not good news for the opposition.

GO JAYS GO!

17-2 FINAL...what a beatdown the Jays laid on the Reds! 23 hits....say uncle, Cincy!
Tulo announces his return with a grand slam! Hopefully a sign of things to come with the roster starting to get healthy again. Sounds like Happ and Liriano are just about ready to go, just need Sanchez and Pearce back now.

Those 23 hits were the third most in the Jays' history.  Whoa, what a show!  And the Reds' Votto was a dud.

Nice going, Blue Jays!

Add Kendys Morales' two-run homer that broke the tie (4-4) in the eighth inning and got the eventual win (6-4) for the Jays yesterday.

Such a satisfying win to comeback with those long bombs.  The Reds had some of their own up their sleeves, as Jays starter J.A. Happ (back from the DL) had a bit of a rough introduction.

Joe Smith got the win. Osuna the save.

Reds  4    Blue Jays  5

A two-run blast from Devon Travis (that gave the Jays the lead) preceded by a two-run  solo shot by Maille (that had tied the game) was more than enough to beat Cincinnati for the series sweep.

Coupled with Jays' starter Mike Bolsinger going 51/3 innings but allowed three runs scored, yet striking out plenty on the side once he settled down.  One of Bolsinger's better outings so far.

The Jays in sweeping Cincinnati improved to 26-27.  The .500 mark awaits.

Maille hit a 2-run shot, not a solo one, and even so, that wouldn't have been more than enough to beat Cincinnati since the Reds scored 4 runs.

Devon Travis' was the winner.  :)
