Series Thread: Chicago vs Nashville

Much to the chagrin of my pool standings, Pekka Rinne has more points than the Blackhawks this playoffs.

Fiala wins it for Nashville, Chicago is in massive trouble now, down 3-0.

Down 3-0 late in the 3rd. Hawks getting swept in the 1st round by the lowest ranked playoff team is the biggest surprise of the playoffs.

Lol... *weeps

Whoa baby,  never expected a sweep!  No, not Chicago.  Not a sweep, nope, no one could foresee this coming.

Congrats to the Preds.  Great franchise-boosting victory.

Toews had 1 goal and 1 assist in Chicago's 4 games. Malkin has 11 points in 5 playoff games this year.

You know who else had two points in the series? Pekka Rinne.
Only Patrick Kane and Toews were able to match that high water mark.

Combined $21 million dollar cap hit for 4 points.

Steve Simmons with a doozy from 10 days ago:

http://news.nationalpost.com/sports/nhl/can-anyone-beat-the-chicago-blackhawks-probably-not

They are that strong, that deep, that well coached, that organized and that well run. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane have been there for all three Cups to date, as has Marian Hossa up front. On the back end, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook and Nik Hjalmarsson have combined to play 365 playoff games and been there for all the Cups. Corey Crawford, with two Cups, may be hockey?s most under-appreciated big game goaltender.

And that?s just the start of the Hawks roster. This could be the deepest and strongest contender yet from Chicago. If there?s one thing that is absolutely consistent with coach Joel Quenneville, it?s trust. If he trusts you, if he believes in you, you become a prominent player in his rotation.

Jesus Christ. Chicago's bottom 6 this year consisted of guys like Dennis Rasmussen, Ryan Hartman, and Tanner Kero. Yeah, I don't know who they are either. Oh, and Jordan "there's literally no way this guy is still playing in the NHL, wait seriously?" Tootoo. Chicago's "deepest and strongest" years are so far behind them that claim is hilarious.

Not to gloat or anything, but I picked Nashville to beat Chicago. I also picked Minnesota to win the Cup though...

Hartman actually had 19 goals this season as a 21 y/o rookie. He's not exactly the scrubbiest scrub to ever scrub. The others, though . . . scrubs.

The Hawks did have six 20+ goal scorers this seasons, so, their top 6 was as deep as a top 6 is realistically likely to be. Unfortunately for them, other than Hartman, no one else scored more than 6. So, their bottom 6 was, well, ungood.

It's an impressive feat, although when one of your regular top-6 players is Richard Panik I just have to wonder a little about the actual quality of the group.
