Team Canada wins Spengler Cup!
The Canadians' perfect record remained intact against HC Lugano of Switzerland, as Team Canada on goals by Cory Conaoher, Derek Roy, Greg Huttman, Tom Pyatt, Chris Didomenico , and the game-winner by Matt D'Agostini, clinched Canada's victory by a score of 5-4.
This was Canada's thirteenth Spengler Cup triumph, not since 2012, the last time the Canadians won it.
"We had such a special group of guys, it is something I will remember for the rest of my life," said Canada defenceman Aaron Johnson, who assisted on the game-winner. "I came in not knowing a lot about the tournament and the atmosphere was more than I could ever imagine
"What an awesome opportunity to represent Canada and win such a prestigious tournament," said assistant coach Rob Cookson. "We had an outstanding group of players that fit together quickly and really bought into the challenge."
This was the 89th edition of the invitational Spengler Cup tournament taking place in Davos, Switzerland. Canada has been participating since it's entry in 1984.
Way to go, guys!
