I like Spezza and really wanted this signing, but he's probably not at the level of an everyday 3C anymore. This likely doesn't mean anything for Kadri.

Cool.

Bob says around 700k / league minimum.

Fits the fourth line mentality of the Leafs. Quick, threat to score rather than lumbering and imposing. This year's Ennis. I like it.

And Toronto may have the market cornered on meme quality laughs.

Low risk, potentially some high reward, still going to be weird as all get out to cheer for Jason Spezza.

At league minimum (or close to it), this is a very nice signing, if true. Spezza has considerably slowed down but he can still be a nice addition to the 2nd PP unit which was quite dysfunctional last season. On even strength I guess he would play sheltered minutes as the #4C.

This is probably the first time in Spezza's 16 year career that somebody has called him "quick".

In fairness to me, I was calling the line quick, but I suppose 'skilled' would be a better word anyway.

Can?t really complain about cheap deals but Spezza at best is a low 30s point producer if he gets PP time.  He can win face offs but He isn?t going to be a big mover for the team.  I?m all for having more center depth though

This is wonderful and whatnot from a hockey perspective but still my reaction is eeewwwww.

Hate this signing. Not a big Spezza fan as we had him here in Belleville for a while and I wonder where his head will be at in Toronto. He clearly didn't want to be in Belleville and he put in ZERO effort when he was here. Great for Spezza but not so good if he isn't into it. Waste of money $$$
