This has the makings of an ugly romping courtesy of the Stars.

7-1 Dallas.  Seguin with a hat trick and two helpers.

I hope Boyes sits while Clune plays again.  Need lots of major penalties from a knuckledragger.

This is very puzzling. I would have imagined they'd give Boyes every opportunity to play in order to turn him into a useful trade asset. Could be minor injuries, or stuff?

Honestly, considering the way this season is going to play out, I imagine there's going to a lot of these short term tryout type stints where we wonder why certain guys are getting scratched in favour of less talented guys. Really, though, Boyes has been pretty ineffective, so, he probably deserves to sit regardless of who is coming in for him.

Not that it means too much on this team, but Boyes is just 1 point behind the team lead in points from forwards this season. And that's with playing 2 less games than the 3-man group in 1st. He also leads the team by quite a bit in points per 60 at even-strength. Again, his numbers aren't earth-shattering but for a team struggling to score it's odd to see him sitting as opposed to a Parenteau or Grabner. Both those guys have larger roles on specialty teams but it's not like those units can't use a shake-up.

I was actually surprised when I saw Boyes' point totals, because I've felt like he's been pretty invisible. To me, he's a strong example of how point totals don't do a great job of reflecting how well a player is performing.

Bernier's starting. 3rd time in 4 games. I mean whichever goalie was playing tonight is getting lit up regardless against this Stars team, but weird to see Bernier get the start.

Jonas Siegel reporting that Spaling and Boyes are set to check back into the lineup.

Per Mark Masters, Clune likely to sit.

We are winning tonight.  This game has upset written all over it.

Same here.  I was about to post a snarky comment about his invisibility.  G/d statistics are always getting in the way of my preferred truths.

6-2 Stars. I think this one is going to be a stinker, and the Leafs may hear it from the boo birds for the first time this season.

Updated lineup projection:

Forwards
21 van Riemsdyk - 43 Kadri - 47 Komarov
23 Matthias - 42 Bozak - 15 Parenteau
26 Winnik - 16 Spaling - 19 Lupul
40 Grabner - 56 Froese - 28 Boyes

Defence
51 Gardiner - 3 Phaneuf
2 Hunwick - 44 Rielly
52 Marincin - 46 Polak

Goaltenders
34 Reimer
45 Bernier

Scratches:
Clune, Holland, Harrington

I know he's our second highest scoring forward, but I think it's time to end the Komarov with Kadri/JVR experiment.
