Vanek to MTL

Good pick up for them, unfortunately. Waiting to see the return, and, whether it'll be worth it for a rental if Vanek decides to test the market.

Real_ESPNLeBrun: Vanek to Montreal in exchange for a 2nd round pick and a prospect

Good deal. Damn.

So what's the final net tally on the Moulson/Vanek trade for the Islanders?

Gave up Moulson, a 1st and a 2nd for Vanek.  Traded Vanek for a 2nd and a prospect.

So Moulson and a 1st for a 2nd and a prospect.

Yeah that trade really blew up in Snow's face. And in all those idiots faces who defended it.

The #habs give up prospect Sebastien Collberg and a conditional second-round pick for Tomas Vanek.

Habs took Collberg in 2nd round, 33rd overall in 2012.  A RW, playing in Sweden.

He's a guy who has seen his stock really rise over the past couple years. Could be a nice pick up for the Islanders.

Too lazy to look up the cap numbers but I'd imagine the Gaborik deal should have been a similar deal to the Vanek one. Gaborik netted more no? Weird.

Only 5'11", which could hurt his transition.  Has lit up in junior tournaments, but struggled in the men's league.  Plus he's going to the Islanders, let's just call him a bust now.

I want to, but, at the same time, I want to keep the Habs trend of trading young guys and prospects who turn into quality players trend going.

Ah well, we're just going to have to pick up our sox and start playing Real Carlyle HockeyTM to make up for all our rivals improving themselves.

Nice, I like where your head is at.

StapeNewsday: Misread a text, sorry. Both picks, MTL's 2nd and the #Isles 2015 5th, are conditional. If Habs miss playoffs, no picks change hands.

Oh man, that's even more hilarious. I doubt the Habs miss the playoffs, but, still . . .
