In a normal season, he?d need to pass through waivers. This upcoming season (if/when it happens), who knows? I have to imagine the rules will be a little different for 20/21 (or should is be 2021?).

They will expand the rosters but not the cap so players will still have to pass through waivers. If they expand the rosters I expect the Leafs to run a 21 man roster(7 D). That'll save you at least 700K towards the cap. Well I think they run 21 max anyway.herman said:Frank E said:It's going to get weird if the AHL isn't up and running when the season starts...like I guess the guys that get cut are just going to hang around and practice?
I am very confident that
a) there will not be an AHL that starts at the same time as the NHL, if at all
b) there will be a taxi-squad situation where rosters are expanded to allow for extra goalies and skaters; active roster needs to be cap compliant; inactive roster has cap relief up to the usual amount (1.075M)
c) schedule will be compressed into Jan to July extremely optimistically, with an early August draft

Nah, he's definitely coming in to be the 3rd string goalie.
With the ECHL playing it will be even stranger with no AHL. One would think a highly amended schedule and inter division play could happen to some degree.herman said:Frank E said:It's going to get weird if the AHL isn't up and running when the season starts...like I guess the guys that get cut are just going to hang around and practice?
