What now?

So its done. As much as we are all disappointed by a trade deadline with only minor-league movement, I think we can all agree that it would be weird to have Nash and Nabokov on our team today. Maybe "good weird", but weird nonetheless.

20 games to go, and we have a decent farm team to supplement what we have. We are in 10th place, but a couple win streaks could catapult us right back into the swing of things. We have seen enough out of this time this year to know that this is possible.

What combinations can we put together to finish strong? We're not firing Wilson, we're playing with our boys, and our goalies are Reimer and Gustavsson.

I wanted to start a thread devoid of negativity, and full of just straight realism. How can we work with what we have?

Each and every player needs to look in the mirror and play for himself and his teammates and the sweater he happens to be wearing right now. the time is now....no more excuses. Leadership in the dressing room needs to step up and support the whole idea of a winning culture. Enough of the losing. Lets get?r done. We are still in reach being where they all started the season wanting to be and that is a playoff spot. This team needs to play like a team from here on in. they need to give it their best shot and play to the system they?ve strived for. Get ?er Done boyz.  Go Leafs Go

Well, first off, the goalies (or at least one of them) needs to find some consistency.  I even think Wilson should stick with one guy for multiple games at a time, see if anything develops.  I'm not sure these two kids can be successful going in and out all the time.

Secondly, the whole team needs to show up every single minute of every single game from here on out.  No games, periods, or minutes off - no excuses.

Beyond that, I haven't watched closely enough lately to pinpoint specifics.

We make the playoffs or Ron Wilson is fired.

If it's not one of those two I might have to take a break from Leaf nation before the failure and failure to do anything about it drive me insane.

Yeah, might want to turn the location and signature feature off in Tapatalk, it just gave people your address, maybe a mod can delete this part of the post?

we need to stop complaining and just cheer for our god damn team.  sundin said it best, support the young guys, get behind them, show them why toronto is the best city to play in.
dont nit-pik on bad plays, they need to make mistakes to learn.  teams like the jets have full support of there fans, and look at the push they are making atm. it just seems we are always looking for bad instead of good.  ei. jake gardiner, the kids blowing minds with his skill, and guess what he's ours!!!

after reading these forums for a long while, i too have got an attitude,  lets enjoy the ride these young guys are on, and jump on the bandwagon now!  the next ten years could be very exciting with all the young talent we have, and thank you burke for not selling the farm for one year of playoffs and another 8 missed.

i'm looking forward to going to Ottawa on the 17th and cheering loud for my leafs team, we have a future with this team we haven't had in the past 20-30 years.

Having Nash would be "awesome weird" and the surreal hope that we would have an incredible player in the lineup for years to come.  If the price was too high at this time, then I salute Mr. Burke.  But I would hope that we can somehow get this type of player as they so rarely become available in the next few years to replace what Sundin was to this team.  And what Gilmour was before that.  As much as Kessel-Lupul is a real plus, we need one game breaking, superstar; the type Toronto deserves.

So to answer the question, Burke needs to find this player, no matter how long it takes...building up enough picks or prospects in order to pay for him...and bring him to Toronto.  Oh and save the neccesary cap space too.  I want the type that costs and warrants $8M plus a year.
