Can't do anything with the extra attacker. PK wasn't good. PP wasn't good. The big guns fail to score.

We are playoff ready

If Marc Savard is the one telling them to soft dump the puck into the corner while the forward start from a standstill (they have done it all year)....it's the reason we are horribly outscored 6 on 5
 
Poor coaching by Berube. You can't run players into the ground even if they wear the C.

But in a sense it doesn't matter. Matthews is a shadow of his former self and they look like one and done.

We were there to witness the historic 69 goals in the regular season only to watch him get the Hershey squirts and miss playoff games.
 
Another loss to a true contender… Can we just fast forward past our first round playoff exit and start talking about a major shakeup this off-season?! Lol
 
Special teams was the difference and didn't like the 2nd goal on Stolarz. Other then that the effort was very good. Leafs are going to have to fight through all that interference in the playoffs. Laughton looked a lot better on L2. He'll get there. Carlo looked a lot better which is good.
 
So what is there to say. As usual, the Leafs are competitive, keep the game close, but in the end can't score more than 2 goals and are let down by their penalty killing (and power play of course). Florida overall looks faster, they forecheck more effectively and are really good at obstructing just enough to not get penalties. In other words, they are better at playoff hockey.
 
Panthers 12-3-0 in last 15 games and out scored opposition 52 to 24. Every season they click into gear on time.

That Leaf first place this season was fugazi.
 
Tampa with a point and is now within two. sens win again and are just six back going into Saturday's game. Hold on to your butts, this is gonna be interesting.

He's hurt. The real question is why didn't they just address it back in October and shut him down if need be? It's doing no one any favors to watch him running a half-speed.

The other real question is what body part(s) is he having surgery on after the season.

He's Hurt is getting old when he plays in 4 Nations and is limping in March while Florida is resting their 4 Nations guy as he hits the talk show circuit.

Poor management for Leafs. Not to mention the LTIR bonus..... which Panthers also played.

With Marchand and Tkachuk and Ekblad in the game......... this score is 5 to 1 again.

I don't blame the Leaf roster.... it's always been on the management afraid to address the problems. Timid management = timid team.
 
No idea what's up with 34. He had almost three times as many goals this time last year.

There seems to be no talk about it in the media.

As captain, he's rarely made available for media.
 
You have to figure that whatever Matthews has either isn't a surgical fix or is one that takes him out long term. What I don't understand is why we are playing him like he is healthy down the stretch. Matthews is fighting the puck...don't have him on the ice for 3+ minutes straight
 
Leafs actually played a very good defensive game tonight.
Tavares/Nylander had 2 scoring chance the whole game. They gave up 5..XGF%-41%
Matthews/Marner/Knies had 8 scoring chances (7 high danger) and gave up 2 scoring chances....XGF%-88%
Leafs only gave up 3 high danger chances the whole game at 5v5. Compliments of the 4th line.

I don't think anyone can say they played a bad game.

The result is the result, and they lost 3-2 to a team they will have to get past.
