1 NY Rangers vs 8 Ottawa Senators

Carkner has a hearing today - might get an update on Alfie this afternoon. Hag also has a hearing today.

I figure Carkner gets nothing except maybe a fine and Hagelin gets a game, maybe 2.

Yeah it won't be much for both. Worth every penny if he's only fined

Hagelin gets three games.  I would have given him a fine, or maybe 1 game, personally.  Is this the league trying to retake control?

Well worth the game imo.

Sorry guys, but I can't believe you guys have this attitude at what was basically an attack on another player, all because of some glove-on jabs at Karlsson.

The closest thing on the Leafs I can remember off-hand, was Domi's cheap shot on Niedermayer, and I hated that (not saying there aren't other examples of cheap shots, just none that I'm remembering right now).

He had it coming, and knew exactly what was going to happen.  He refused to fight, and crumpled into a heap in an attempt to draw a penalty.

This is the playoffs, man.  You pick on a superstar half your size, you're gonna have to take your medicine (unless you're playing Vancouver).  Carkner got tossed, leaving Ottawa with 5 defensemen for the rest of the game, the Rangers got a 5 minute power play out of it, and Carkner was suspended.  They just should have capitalized on it.

I don't blame Boyle for it, he did his job.  He got under Karlsson's skin in game 1, and earned his team a 5 minute power play in game 2, as well as scoring a goal.  But he's also not stupid.  He knows what he did pissed off the Sens, and he knows what Konopka and Carkner drawing into the lineup means.

If he didn't want to get his ass whooped, he should have stepped up and answered for it.

Bertuzzi 4ever!!!!!

I think the coach should have face some discipline.

It looked pretty clear that Carkner was sent out to do that.

I don't understand how Domi's elbow on Niedermayer relates to Carkner pummeling Boyle...

I said they were both cheap, dirty plays.  How is that not a relation?  It was a cheap, dirty play that I didn't like.  Carkner's was a cheap, dirty play that I didn't like.  As I said, I was trying to think of a play that fit that criteria, perpetrated by the team I follow, so I could find a point of reference of how I would feel if it was someone on my team doing it.

So why didn't they just do the same thing Boyle did to Karlsson, to someone like Gaborik or something?  How is jumping a guy, then pummeling him on the ground when he doesn't fight, at all justified by what Boyle did?  The reaction was so much worse than the original incident.  How often do players get punched or hit in the face during after-whistle scrums?  Sure, Boyle's was more than just the typical stuff, but seriously, it was hardly anything.  He hardly beat the crap out of Karlsson or anything.

Oh, I misunderstood.  I thought you meant that what Domi and Carkner did were similar plays.

Aside from maybe Lundqvist, there is no player on the Rangers as important to his team as Karlsson to the Sens.  Beating the crap out of Boyle will protect Karlsson more than slapping Gaborik around.  Boyle's gonna think twice next time he gets in a scrum with Karlsson, going after Richards would just make Karlsson more of a target.

Also, why are the Sens the bad guys here?  The Rangers may have just ended our captain's career.

Seriously, Shanahan?
