100th Anniversary of the Grey Cup 2012

Haha I got so many comments today after wearing my Argos jersey around in Hamilton. They hate the Argos like no other.

Anyways, it's refreshing to see all the closet Argos fans that have been in hibernation over the past few years come out for the Grey Cup. I'm one example of such a fan. I mean, there's literally 4 players I can name on the Argos roster (Ray, Owens, Prefontaine, Swayze Waters). I've been ignoring the Argos completely for at least 4 or 5 years now. Is that going to stop me from getting excited as hell about the Grey Cup? No way. There's a Toronto team in a championship game that should be embraced, even if it's the CFL. ARGOOOOOOOOOOOS.

35-22 over the Stampeders with Chad Kackert named game MVP, and Ricky Foley top Canadian.  QB Ricky Ray and the Argos offense did plenty of damage, while the defense made it miserable for Calgary's starting QB Kevin Glenn et al.

A memorable 100th Grey Cup game and festivities.  What a way to go, Toronto!

The turf seemed really slick.  Lots of guys falling all over the place.

Also, worst half-time show in a while?  Lacked energy and completely off on the demographics.  Nice to see Gordon Lightfoot out there though.  Bieber getting booed was enjoyable.

En accord.  The look of that turf had me puzzled.  It looked like ice had been sprayed over it.

As for the half-time show, Jepson and Bieber were the only ones worth a mention.  And, oh yes, the ever enlightening Lightfoot, a pleasure to listen to anytime.

Good also to see Burton Cummings.  A little nostalgia is good for the soul.
 
Got to attend the game with my nephew. An unforgettable night that neither of us will forget.

Argos have won 6 Grey Cups in my lifetime - but this is the first one they've captured in Toronto in all that time. Glad to have witnessed it live.

I'll never understand why the CFL waits 3 months after the season ends to announce the coach of the year. It would be like the NHL handing out the Jack Adams at the start of training camp for the next season. The CFL gives out their "MOP" award, the most outstanding Canadian award, the defensive player of the year award, and all the rest of them during Grey Cup week. Why is the coach of the year any different? It's asinine.

Anyhow...the Argos' Scott Milanovich won the 2012 coach of the year award. 



 
They won't hit the field until 2014 season, but Ottawa now knows the identity of the team that will hit the field. The team will be known as the Ottawa Redblacks. Ottawa has a history of those colours going all the way back to the original Rough Riders (a name they could not use this time), so I'm not shocked with that choice of colour scheme. I like the logo but hate the name. Seriously, that's the best they could come up with?

I agree, the name is terrible.  I'd take "Roughriders" again any time.
