I feel bad for whatever team signs Garrison. No chance he puts up those numbers again.

I think he takes a bit less and stays in Florida. Quite a point shot though, I'll give him that.

It's going to be a boring summer on the UFA market - especially if either Suter or Parise re-sign with their respective teams.

Yeah, all the guys at the top are the biggest risks to re-sign. The other guys, well it's questionable that we'd even make a call on them.

Maybe yes, maybe no.  Certainly teams such as Detroit would love to get their hands on a Suter (as a partial replacement for the recently-retired Lidstrom) for example.

That's an excellent point busta. Have you even considered that there are teams who might want to sign Parise and Suter?

Does Parenteau bring anything to the table that Clarke MacArthur doesn't already bring?

Other than stats that are likely inflated by having played with John Tavares, no.

Curious to see what Doan decides if the Phoenix situation isn't resolved or at least on solid ground.

Even if it's not, my guess is he won't want to uproot his family.

So you think he'd retire if they move?

That's what I've been led to believe all along.  But recent quotes after the Coyotes' elimination made it seem that he would entertain offers from other teams if that ends up being the case.

I think it's a possibility, yeah. He's probably getting pretty close to that point already, so, it wouldn't be like he'd be cutting his career drastically short. He might do one year somewhere else, but I don't see him going long-term anywhere else.

Yeah, I mean, I can't argue with that. It wouldn't surprise if he went short term elsewhere or retired.

I guess I think it'd be a little bit of a shame. I've always liked his game but...I don't know. To me his career would kind of read like a guy who didn't really care much about winning.

Kinda reminds me of Rob Brindamour, without the cup year.

I guess. Although Brind'Amour's first year as a UFA was the year the 'Canes went to the Cup finals against Detroit.

Some free agency News...

The New York Post's Larry Brooks doubts the Devils can afford Parise, unless team owner Jeff Vanderbeek finds a benefactor willing to pony up the millions needed to re-sign him.

Brooks believes Parise will command a heavily front-loaded deal akin to the nine-year, $60-million contract Brad Richards signed last summer with the New York Rangers. Brooks listed the Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins and (of course) the Rangers among the potential suitors for the left winger's services.

If Parise does hit the open market, the Red Wings and Rangers stand the best chance to land him because, as Brooks indicates, they have both the cap space and the willingness to spend.

Of those two, the Red Wings should have the edge. They have $5 million more in extra cap space compared to the Rangers, Parise has stated his admiration for the Wings and their first line center, Pavel Datsyuk, and they're located
closer to his home state of Minnesota.

                                                        ----------

ESPN.com's Craig Custance listed Parise, with Columbus Blue Jackets right winger Rick Nash and Nashville Predators right winger Alexander Radulov, among the high-end scorers who will be of interest to Rangers GM Glen Sather.

Radulov, on the other hand, is a restricted free agent the Predators have no intention of re-signing. GM David Poile said he?d try to trade his NHL rights or simply allow him to return to Russia's Kontinental League, where the winger spent the past four seasons.

                                                        ----------

Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reported GM Scott Howson intends to find a new starting goalie.

Portzline speculated on their options, saying Vancouver's Roberto Luongo should not be ruled out, though his hefty contract and age (33) wouldn't make him Columbus? first choice.

Nashville's Anders Lindback and Philadelphia's Sergei Bobrovsky were also listed as possible trade candidates. Portzline ruled out Boston's Tuukka Rask and noted Blue Jackets management has always had a lukewarm opinion of Los Angeles backup Jonathan Bernier.

Free agent options include Florida's Scott Clemmensen, Minnesota's Josh Harding, Toronto's Jonas Gustavsson and the Rangers' Martin Biron.
