2013-2014 NHL Thread

Multiple comments out here in Vancouver that Kessler is not "good in the room". This has surfaced more than once over his time here.

Which may be but there's a considerable distance between a guy not being "good in the room" and his team looking to sell him at a discount. I mean, it's worth noting that it's Kesler asking for a trade here and not the other way around.

I don't think anyone's going to see Clarkson's contract as a significant asset right now.

C'mon, he's a bargain offering $7M worth of intangibles.  Maybe even $7.25M.

I wonder if he'd accept intangible dollars.

There's clearly no harm in asking.

Just tell him they are worth more than real dollars.  You know, kind of like how his intangibles are worth more than his on-ice performance.

Dan Girardi takes one of the bigger defensemen off the potential UFA market.

He re-signed with the Rangers for 6 years for 33M (5.5 AAV)

He probably would have been the #1 blue line target this summer. Pretty much all the other recognizable names out there are on the wrong side of 35 and/or comes with a pretty extensive injury history. Some decent 4-6 guys out there, but, not much else.

Yea. Niskanen might be the top guy now, but even he doesn't have much to his name beyond having a really good season so far.

Anyhow for Girardi, that's certainly no discount. Pretty expensive actually.

Yeah. He's also one of the guys the Leafs should be targeting, but, he's likely to come in much more expensive than he's worth.

Not thrilled with the Sens being involved in this game. These games are for teams who spend the whole year talking about themselves as it is. Not going to be any intentcity to this game either. Count me out.

It's Bobby Ryan!

TSNBobMcKenzie: ?@NHLonTSN: Eddie Lack will be starting for the Canucks in the Heritage Classic. #TSN #NHL?/This is going to get really interesting now.

botchford: Luongo said he had been looking fwd to this game from start of year

botchford: Lu: "I don't want to go through this whole thing again"

botchford: Luongo: "I've always wanted to play in an outdoor game."

Just in time to create another non-story for the trade deadline.
