Report: Lightning's Victor Hedman expected to be out 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his hand. http://thesco.re/1vVTfkC

Tough break for Hedman. A lot of people were expecting him to take a big leap this season and maybe even be a part of the Norris trophy discussions.

Bruins Zdeno Chara suspected left knee ligament injury.Expected out 4-6 weeks at which time they'll evaluate need for surgery or not. #TSN

Bruins defence now consists of:

Dennis Seidenberg
Doug Hamilton
Torey Krug
Matt Bartkowski
Adam McQuaid
Kevan Miller

And they've only been scoring 2.33 goals per game so far. Will be a very interesting month for Boston.

Yeah, I guess I can handle not seeing Chara twice in the next 3 weeks.

Who is Glen Healy going to accuse Kessel of being afraid of now?

Maybe Johnny Boy-... oh wait, nevermind...

Hopefully Kessel can take advantage of the fact that Chara won't be all over him the entire game.

Aportzline: #CBJ projected 23-man lineup would have salary (not cap) of $59 million. By end of Tuesday's game, $32 million worth of players was missing.

Backes and Oshie are both out with concussions:

Not the first ones for either player too.

Not quite as bad as Columbus' problem, but this too is a lot of salary out of the line-up:

With Stastny, Backes, Oshie out tonight, that's 23% of Blues payroll unavailable.

Ryan McDonagh has a separated shoulder.  Kevin Klein was injured in the same period for New York.  Their defense is hurting.

So Nathan Horton's situation sounds...not good:http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com/content/stories/2014/11/13/1113-blue-jackets-horton.html

That's pretty horrible. I think if I were in his situation I'd go for the surgery - I'd rather be able to play with my kids. But of course being in the situation is totally different and I can see why he'd want to hold off and hope.

At only 29 as well he's easily young enough to retrain or go to college and start something new.

Either way I hope it works out.

When rumours first surfaced about a month ago I guess that Horton's career may be over I figured they were gross exaggerations. I also for some reason thought that he had had back problems for awhile now, crazy that this just popped up out of nowhere. I hope he can figure this out quickly and get some relief, one way or another.

I get Horton is in denial that his NHL could possibly be over and it is hard to accept, but he has a whole life ahead of him.  If he's feeling like a 75-year old at 29, what is he going to feel like when he is actually 75.

I'm sure he could find a way to stay in the game some how so he doesn't have that separation that may lead to some personal problems.

AnaheimDucks: UPDATE: Perry and Beauchemin test results reveal both have the mumps. Both players are considered day to day.

I don't know why, but I find this really funny. Maybe it's just because mumps is a funny word.

I'm not actually all that surprised given the story.  It's really not surprising to me that it would happen to players from California (land of the moon children who don't need evil autism vaccines).
