I heard the Flyers are trying hard to move Lecavalier, perhaps the leafs could take him and essentially buy another prospect.

Leafs are pretty close to the 50 contract limit right now, so, unless the Flyers take a couple contracts back, probably not the right move - unless the Flyers are willing to throw in a really significant prospect or pick (which seems unlikely).

I'd consider something like Bozak for Lecavalier + incentives, but I guess Bozak doesn't actually do anything for them either. Unless they play Gagner (and Schenn) on the wing.

If the Leafs could somehow move Bozak or Lupul in another deal without taking a contract back, then maybe you can do something around Lecavalier that nets the Leafs a good pick or two, yeah.

Pretty good career for a slightly under-sized guy. Was a career .715 PPG guy in the regular season, .935 PPG guy in the playoffs. Was a point-per-game playoff performer before his last appearance with Montreal. Had 30 points in 23 games when Philly went on their run to the finals.

edit: That 30-point performance was actually the 3rd highest single-playoff point total among players in his generation. Behind Malkin and Crosby's 36 and 31 (respectively) point totals in 24 games.

Yeah, there's some pretty impressive stuff in his career. You mention the 09-10 playoff run but in the two subsequent playoff appearances by the Flyers he scored 15 goals in 22 games.

Too bad he fell a handful of games short of 1000 for his career.

Didn't even realize that at first. 27 games away from 100 and just 4 points away from 700. I'm sure he would have loved to hit those but he's been a pretty ineffective player these past 2 seasons. Any team signing him would have been for sentimental purposes only really.

Arbour was  masterfull behind the Islander bench during the team's transition period to eventual four-time Stanley Cup champions..  No surprise that Arbour's mentor was Scotty Bowman, another great master tactician and motivator.

As an Isles fan, I'II always have fond memories of those Stanley Cup winning years, and of the Islanders 19 consecutive playoff wins, a record still standing to this day in pro sports.

Speaking of Burke, he was recently in Belfast and did a Q&A with some local hockey fans.

We put a recording of the audio up on our podcast page, link here if anyone wants to listen:

He talks about his sacking from the Leafs, which is quite interesting - he thought he was being summoned in to be there for the sacking of the Raptors GM, and also his time at Anaheim, Calgary and his other charity work

I listened to the whole thing. I love hearing Burkie talk but I love listening to that Belfast accent more! Makes me wish I visited when I was in Ireland in April :(
