2015-2016 NHL Thread

I wonder...  He'll be out 'months'.  I wonder if into the new year they decide to sit him out the rest of the season?  It's not like they'll be in a push for the playoffs.

I've seen a lot of people putting him at January. I can't see them shutting him down with that much of the season left to go.

He's apparently undergoing surgery to address it. Kane went through a similar injury and returned in ~2 months. That'll push McDavid's return to early January. I doubt they'll shut him down if he can return when there's still half a season to be played.

Yeah I think he'll play.  I doubt the Oilers would want to put it on hold until next season to see how he comes back from that injury.

It really depends on where the injury happened too.

He has potentially another 1/4 inch of growth left on that bone, hence the potentially extended recovery.

Did it happen to Kane at 18?

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, I couldn't find it though.

I really enjoyed it, I actually got a little emotional reading it.

I'll really be rooting for them to make this a success.

It's a shame that they couldn't figure out a way to launch a women's pro league that was able to really bring the best in the world into a single league. Ultimately I think that's why there's been trouble in launching a Women's pro soccer league in the states, there's not enough of a market yet to carve it up into pieces.

Still, best of luck to them.

Interesting game in Chicago. The Hawks had a 5-2 lead after the first 20 minutes. St. Louis scored 3 goals in the 2nd to tie things up. And then nothing. 1 minute left in the 3rd period.

edit: And the Blues complete the comeback in OT!

It (the article) mentioned Manon Rheaume.  Reminded me of the Tampa Bay jersey I still have with her name & number.
At the time, I remember I was thrilled of there being a female goaltender (a Canadian, too) to have taken part in a professional NHL (pre-season) game.  She was the first female ever to have laced on a pair of skates in the NHL.  And yes, that was definitely "awesome"!  :)

I don't know if this is something that would generate much interest, but perhaps we could have a thread for this league, we could have results and some news articles etc?

Good idea?

There already is a "Women's hockey" thread (which I started), but yeah, if you want to be league specific, then, yes, why not?

Good idea, indeed.

Here's a sample of one could talk abiut:

There are approximately 15 Canadians and several internationals on the list.

Crazy stat from Friedman, since 05/06, of teams that have been 5 points or more out of a playoff spot on Nov 1st, only 7 have made the playoffs.

WoW

Only something like 5 teams that have been outside the playoffs on US thanksgiving have made the playoffs in that span, as well.

NHL issues security advisory to all teams following the Paris bomblngs & attacks:

We have sent an advisory to our Clubs to be on heightened alert given today's events in Paris," Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly said.

Reports say more than 100 people were killed in the attacks, which included a bombing outside Stade de France where France was playing Germany in a soccer friendly.
