2015 ALCS - Toronto Blue Jays (93-69) vs Kansas City Royals (95-67)

I started watching the Jays in 89 so I missed the pain of 85.

This has been painful to watch but at the same time these royals are no are no slouches,  this is a good team.

No doubt there. The Royals manufacturer runs very efficiently without a reliance on the longball.

A-Rod (yes, Fox Sports analyst ) ain't counting out the Blue Jays just yet:

I wasn't around to comment at the time but man...I was sure Price was going to throw a CG SO the way he was dealing.  18 straight batters out and induces a routine pop-up on the first pitch of the 8th.

Then of course the Royals nickel and dime their way to a lead out of nowhere - single, single, infield ground out, double, IIRC (I probably don't).  Jays were top AL team with RISP in the regular season, .191 or something in the playoffs.  Sigh.

But it ain't over yet.

The problem I think is that tulo,  Martin and Goins have been complete black holes offensively. I don't care if they aren't mashing the ball but move runners up...  They're either striking out or popping up.

Well last game at least, Martin was royally (no pun intended) robbed on what should have been an RBI but instead was a double play on a ball clocked to be the hardest hit he's had all season.

EDIT: Stuff like that play are doubly frustrating when it feels like every time the Royals have a guy on second that every contact they make finds a gap.

I had a wedding to go to on Saturday so I was watching and it was 3-0. I checked the score later on and boom, meltdown. So admittedly I didn't see any of the 7th inning or any after.

Jays claimed Pat Venditte off waivers from Oakland today. Too bad he isn't post-season eligible, would have added another wrinkle having a switch-pitcher!

Getting into the pen in the 3rd is great. Now, they gotta make the relievers throw a lot of pitches, too. Take 'em out of tomorrow's game.

I think they are just going to sacrifice Medlan for a few innings.  I don't think it really did anything to the Royals to have Cueto pulled early other than the Jays getting a good lead.

Maybe. Still, there's a limit on how long Medlen can go, especially if the Jays get runners on and make him work. Good chance they get to the heart of the pen in 6th. Have to imagine the Royals were hoping to be able to save a couple guys that they likely won't be able to now.
