Thanks for getting this started!

I think McElhinney has been tapped for Team Canada too, but I don?t know if that means he?s actually on the roster.

Edit: Looks like he is!

Haha I was premature and posted this on the other thread but I've removed it and added here:

you can all get excited about facing Team GB who managed back to back promotions by winning Division 1A today in Hungary with a win over the host nation scoring the game tying goal with the goalie pulled and 15 seconds left to make it 2-2 after being 2-0 down with 10 minutes left. The tie was enough to win the group but GB won the shootout anyway.

Today came after defeating Italy, Slovenia and Poland and losing to Kazakhstan.

Italy also come back up. This time last year GB were in the 3rd tier playing the likes of Estonia, Japan and the Ukraine and is first time in the top division since 1994.

GB assistant coach is Adam Keefe, brother of Marlie coach Sheldon

Congrats to GB & Italy!  (I'm Italian-Canadian & happy for my ancestral land).  :)

It's good to see various participation among different countries that are hardly, if ever, participants.
For the 2019 Worlds, should be an exciting time to see how GB & Italy fare.  Way to go, lads, &  Forza Italia!

Oh, pffftt!

Shootout, eh?
Team USA won it 5-4 in the shootout on a goal by Cam Atkinson.  Team Canada failed in it's attempt to prevail in the OT as well as in the shootout.  Natch.

Canada's goals came from Pierre-Luc Dubois, Colton Parayko & Anthony Beauvilliers, while Jordan Eberle got the lone Canadian marker in the shootout.

The Americans came away with leads throughout the game as Canada played catchup.  An exciting offensive affair that saw U.S. 'keeper Keith Kinkaid face 40 shots while Canada's Darcy Keumper faced 29.  To critics, KinKaid was clearly the better goaltender here outshining Canada's Kuemper.

Canada gets a point and will face Team Korea here at the wJyske Bank Boxen arena in Herning Sunday.

Other WMHC Friday results:

Team Russia whitewashed Team France 7-0; Team Sweden did away with Team Belarus 5-0; and...

...Team Denmark surprised Team Germany 3-2 in the shootout, no doubt sending Danish fans into a frenzy.  The Germans, Silver Medallists, were stymied by Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Fredrik Andersen, and Detroit Red Wings Frans Nielsen who scored the shoouout winner.

Team Canada obliterated Team South Korea 10-0.  The Canadians outshot the Koreans 50-25.

Toronto Maple Leafs' goaltender for Team Canada Curtis McElhinney shut the door on Team Korea, not that it was difficult, but he played well nevertheless.
