The Blue Jays (29-49) visit Yankee Stadium for a three-game series against the New York Yankees (49-28).
The Yankees occupy first place in the A.L. East division, 4.5 games up above the second place Tampa Bay Rays.
The Blue Jays come off taking two out of three in Fenway Park against the Bosox in their most recent series. The Jays bats came alive and how against Boston, and the team looked offensively reinvigorated, if that?s even the proper term. For this series it obviously was.
The Yankees have a former Blue Jay in Edwin Encarnacion whom they acquired earlier via trade (from the Seattle Mariners).
New York may have plenty of motivation going as they attempt to set a MLB record of consecutive games in which they have hit a home run. The record of 27 is owned by the Texas Rangers back in 2002. The Yankees stand at game number 26.
The Blue Jays Lourdes Gurriel is streaking, or shall we say freaking good as he?s hitting .327 BA and 18 RBIs since being recalled from Buffalo a Triple A earlier.
My Lourdes, this guy?s nuts!
Toronto is 18th in home runs hit with 101 homers, while New York is fifth with 125.
The Yankees are 7th in run production (421).
While New York will no doubt come storming out of the gate (they are 7/8 in wins recently), the Blue Jays can follow up on their offensive production quest. Should make for an interesting series against another A.L. rival.
GO JAYS GO!
