2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs - Round 1/Qualifier - Maple Leafs vs Blue Jackets

From Darren Dreger....so he could be ready to go.Wed,Thurs, Frid, Sat is 4 tests. Something tells me he wouldn't be available even if he didn't have to isolate. Glad it's not serious though and hope he can go in the 1st round.

Depending on the timing of the tests, the game, etc., there's not a lot of room to breathe in terms of getting him cleared for Sunday's game 5 (if necessary). The Leafs don't have control over when the tests are administered or the game is scheduled. So, even if he gets 4 clear tests, there's no guarantee the results of the 4th test will be available before lineups for the game need to be submitted. While he technically could be available for Sunday, from a practical perspective, it feels unlikely.

Hopefully just a minor stinger

Just to be clear, a stinger is a brachial plexus injury.  That's the nerves that run down through the shoulder from the neck to innervate your arm.  Muzzin was having symptoms in all of his extremities, and certainly at the very least both arms.  That's not typical of a stinger and is more of a result of the nerve compression higher up in the neck.  Stingers are usually unilateral injuries.

Providing there was no evidence of concerning pathology in his neck, the recovery is going to be the same either way.  He won't play again until his he completely asymptomatic and has no restrictions on range of motion.  He could feel 100% today or he could still have issues...until he is symptom free he won't play.

Thanks, doc! I didn't read he had symptoms in all limbs but going back to his reaction and initial on-ice assessments (wiggle'm all), that makes sense.

Game 3: 8:00 pm
Game 4: 12:00 pm

That's an even quicker b2b turnaround than usual. Game 4 is going to be ass-butt.

Wait was this confirmed somewhere?

Oh I was checking my calendar; perhaps the 12:00 is just a placeholder because I don't see it anywhere else online.

I had a hunch of a pinched nerve. For whatever reason whenever I go to the chiropractor and I get the neck crack bit I get tingling in my fingers and kind of used that as a hunch for what happened. I wonder if it was on the cross check or when his neck whipped back when his head hit the CBJ player's skate.

I didn't realize you meant Thurs/Fri. Absolutely brutal. I wish we had a Sat night game.

Yeah I did a quick check after your post and didn't see it announced anywhere. The Friday game will almost certainly be another 8pm start.

Seriously?  Over Sandin?

It's really not that surprising. If they needed an offensive guy it would have been Sandin. But they needed someone to eat up PK minutes, so Marincin it is.

I could see it being the 4pm game. I can definitely see the league pushing Montreal-Pittsburgh as the marquee matchup that night.
