2021-22 Training Camp Thread

The Leafs currently have 3 open SPC slots

[Given] the recent success the Leafs had rebooting Alex Galchenyuk?s career last season, bringing Ho-Sang to camp is a low-risk proposition. The Leafs development staff will see if his conditioning is at an NHL level before asking him to buy into a Galchenyuk-like plan, one that involved working on his game with the team?s development staff and logging AHL games with the Marlies.

Those close to Ho-Sang believe he will make the most of this opportunity, given the situation. They have seen up close how much this chance means to him ? and how hard he has worked to prepare for it.

Truly the perfect excuse to just run Tavares-Marner and Nylander at C reps.

Yeah I'm curious to see how they really handle his absence during camp, or at least the earlier portions of it. It'll be very tough to get a feel for who the best candidate for the LW spot is going to be without him.

Holy frick Curtis Douglas

Ho-Sang looking to pick up speed. Gusev measured this time around without skates on.
Matthews going even leaner than the 211 from last offseason's new routine.

Is it media day today? Not seeing much out there about this years training camp

EDIT: OK. NM. I just looked for news too early this morning I guess. :)

Not sure what the specific reason for the delay has been (it prevented him from joining Team Sweden's early Olympic consideration camp), but it's kind of not our business at that level.

LMAO

If I'm wrong then I'm wrong, but I'm a little skeptical this couldn't have been done much earlier if he really wanted to. Still, he's saying/doing the right things now so at least that's something.

This might have something to do with it:

I was vaccinated in a non-EU country. Can I obtain a vaccination certificate in Sweden?
No, you cannot obtain a Swedish vaccination certificate. The Swedish eHealth Agency does not at present have the capacity to obtain information regarding vaccines administered outside of the EU, nor to issue vaccination certificates. (Regarding vaccinations administered within the EU, enquire with the country in question regarding vaccination certificates.)

But also, Willy doesn't strike me as someone with the administrative capabilities (or interest) to get an appointment and could just be relying on team resources to tell him what to do and when.

Just a word of caution: as much as we enjoy watching these guys do hockey, we are bound to be disappointed when some of them turn out to be less enlightened than we wonderful people are.  I predict some falling off of pedestals for pretty much every team as we go along this season.  Maybe it's Willy here, maybe it'll be someone else.

Flushing that dude they brought in to coach goalie for the Marlies is a minor example.

I will say though with a 98% fully vaccinated rate among all NHLers the league and players have done a pretty great job in that regard, a handful of dumb-dumbs aside.
