2021-22 Training Camp Thread

Looking forward to Simmonds 6 goals but yells from the bench.  Fluke injuries happen.  Hopefully it's nothing serious.

Anyone else a tad bit concerned that Matthews isn't ready to go yet?  I was reading that it's been 8 weeks since the procedure, and they suggested at the time is was 6 weeks + recovery time.

Now it looks like Kerfoot starts in the 2C spot, so I hope it goes as well as it did when JT went down in the playoffs.

We are facing Montreal and Ottawa this first stretch and we were already doing better than okay with only Nylander, Kerfoot, and Spezza last season.

Matthews can take the next month off for all I care. Whatever gets that wrist problem completely out of the way.

This. Even without Matthews for a stretch, I'm confident the Leafs get into the playoffs. But, without a healthy Matthews in the playoffs, they're not getting much further.

I?d rather he be missing time now then having to worry about it in March and April.

He?s not going to all of a sudden stop skating and standing in front of net. Whereas JVR loved standing beside the net. We saw countless videos of him practicing his shot from within 2 feet of the net.
The Leafs are fools if they think teams are going to allow them the same pond hockey tactics in the playoffs as they do in the regular season.  Let's put it this way, if a  player is getting paid less than $3 million and are unwilling to pay the same price Doug Gilmour did in front of the net, in a time the league is supposedly cutting down on cross-checking, they are the root cause of why the Leafs can't get past the first round.  Think all these players should be practicing their shot from within 2 feet of the net.

I am seriously asking, not stirring anything up, but who are the players on the lightning who paid the price standing in front of the net?

Also I?m confused, if the league is cracking down on cross checking (which I don?t believe for a second) what price would there be to pay in front of the net?
Haven't seen the Lightning play in years.  You're right, there should be way less punishment in front of the net.  But the question I have is why can't some of the players, who aren't exactly finesse players, do what Michael Bunting is doing?

So now they have that player? So all is right in the world?
