Wait, the new plan is to swing harder on the early pitches that are more likely to be in the zone?

The chain on this is great.

The Kubel home run was right over the plate in the strikezone.  Higashioka's home run was a meatball thrown by a position player so while it was higher than Clement's hit it was on a tee.

The Jays offense is fun again though.  Hitting home runs and beating up on garbage teams.

The hail mary call of playing the kids to give fans some hope has worked out quite nicely for Atkins and Shapiro.

They look good... Bo needs to get on board and run this thing back again. Springer/Vlad/Bo were god awful so much so the season was lost before two of them turned it around too late.

I love this

I wonder if the throw made it home on the second bunt would he have been called safe anyway because it looked like the catcher was blocking the plate.

Time for Bo to Go. Not a fan of his, we have some good Bison players who can play the position just as well as him, while we wait for the Indian kid to get to the bigs.  Bo is going to want way to much money and he still hasn't really come back from last years injury yet. And maybe he won't, at least with the Jays.

Defensively, maybe, but in terms of overall contributions - not even close. There's no one knocking on the door who can play short and produce as well at the plate as he typically does.

The best individual game ever?

6 for 6.  3 home runs (including the home run to break 50).  2 doubles.  2 stolen bases (including the one to break 50).  10 RBIs to set a Dodgers record. 50/50 happened for the first time in MLB history.  It also clinched a playoff birth for the Dodgers.

This is pretty wild

I love that in a game as old as baseball, where there are so many different disciplines to excel in, and where thanks to the efforts of statsheads there is more ability to compare across eras than just about any other, that we're getting to witness a player who stakes such a strong case to being the best ever.

50/50. Did not see that coming. And yet it feels like we all should have.

amazing

As much as watching the kids play since the deadline has been fun, there really hasn't been a lot of things that look like high optimism performances for next season.

Bowden Francis is obviously a high point but I think it's just so hard to judge what we are getting out of him next year.  His post-all-star break season has been sensational and he's pitching like a front end of the rotation guy.  Players had a BABIP of .143 against him in the second half.  That's not likely to be sustainable.  So is he the 5.8 ERA guy from the first half or the guy who was unhittable for the 2nd half.  He earned a spot in the rotation for next year with this second half but I'm not sure we should be banking on him being a guy to step in between Gausman/Bassitt/Berrios until he shows he can repeat this performance.

Erik Swanson has rebounded enough to be hopeful for a good season next year.  He had a solid second half 2.86 ERA 24K and 1.091 WHIP.  Ryan Yarbrough has been tormenting opponents instead of the Jays and he's likely a solid stretch bullpen guy for next year.

Barger/Clement/Jiminez/Loperfido haven't really set the world on fire as guy you need to pencil into roster spots next year.  Horwitz has a good first half and just an ok 2nd half for a guy who has to tie up the DH role or put Vlad Jr in a suboptimal 3B spot.  Will Wagner had a pleasant surprise season but as far as prospects go we shouldn't bank on his .788 OPS.  Schneider can't hit fastballs and it shows in his <.200 batting average.

There are a lot of holes in this roster heading into next year and it feels like we are either gambling on better sophomore performances or are going to need to rely on good value free agent signings.
