2025 Offseason Thread: Spring Cleaning

I am worried about Reilly. Berube pulled back on his offense, focusing on team D, and when he let him play more offensively again, it was the same old Reilly. Maybe he gets deployed in a bottom 6 role and plays the PP (Marner gone).

I'm not sure I want Rielly back to be honest. Seems like he doesn't do anything well enough to warrant his contract. Let alone he's not been great with most partners outside of maybe Hainsey and Carlo.

I wonder if something goes back the other way if we get both Hague and Roy. Hague would give us 7 defensemen.

Getting Roy would be my preference. Tavares/Roy/Laughton is great depth up the middle

Goodbye Marner, it's been nice, hope you find your paradise, try to see your point of view, hope you're dreams will all come true....

I’ll believe it when it actually happens. I think Mitch really wants the Bachelor experience.
I wonder if the new rules in the CBA, particularly the limits on signing bonuses, made Marner re-think his plans to go short/medium-term right now. Get that 8-year, probably very heavily signing bonus driven, deal in now while he still can.

I am just very tickled that he is likely choosing the organization that disrespects all their players the most as soon as a younger, hotter star becomes available.

Your hate for Marner borders on the weird. He's not some kind of rival to Nylander you know.
Kinda ironic that their biggest gripe with the Leafs was feeling "disrespected" only to join a team that ships guys out on a whim the second it helps them win. Marner is in for a rude awakening if he thinks the grass is greener over there

I was thinking the exact same thing. I guess he wants to find out what a ruthless management team really looks like.

Is it hate, or is it just making a prediction based on prior observed patterns? And it’s not my observation exclusively; I’m just yapping out loud here a lot.

I take the same relish and glee in pointing this out as I do when seeing Jimmy Vesey fall down down.
