4 Nashville Predators vs 5 Detroit Redwings

You know, I never thought I'd say this about Nashville but...that's a really good playoff crowd.

Really?  I think their crowd has come across really well every year.  I kind of want to see them go on a deep run so they don't become one of those teams that loses their fan-base by going 1-and-done too many times.

everytime I turn on this series my first thought is "dear goodness those are some uuuuugly jerseys!"

the worst in hockey...one of the worst in pro sports. (talking the yellow nashville jerseys)

I think Detroit's look nicer.  :)

You know, people always talk about how the NHL playoffs are unpredictable but the reason they're unpredictable is because they're played under what are basically different rules than the regular season(and literally different rules, I suppose). If you tried to play a game like the one Nashville just played in January you'd be shorthanded for the entire game.

Nashville wins 3-1, thus taking a commanding 3 games to 1 series lead.  Pekka Rinne once again was superb in goal for the Predators.
David Legwand scored the final goal that put the game out of reach for the Red Wings.

I don't have stats for this seasons playoffs, but (for the most part) there have been more PP's per game in the postseason than in the regular season since the lockout (or at least equal number).  This year was the lowest number of PP/game in the regular season, so I don't know how that compares to the playoffs this season thus far, but I would assume the trend would be similar.

Who would have thought that the Red Wings would be the first team eliminated from the playoffs?

2-1 Preds to win the series 4-1.

Yeah, I don't really understand it to be honest.  Sure the games mean more and you don't want ticky-tack penalties deciding the game, but I would love for it to be consistent.  Don't call the stuff in the regular season if you aren't going to call it in the playoffs.

On the flip side, the NHL ruling that Radulov could freely join the team and play in the playoffs has been pretty huge for the Predators.  His addition gives their lineup a premium scorer that they sorely lacked.

7 points in 9 games to finish the regular season and now 5 points in 5 games, including a goal and an assist tonight to finish off the Wings.
