ACC to be renamed the Scotiabank Arena

Damn, $800M to name an arena that cost $265 to build.  I should see if I can sell Scotiabank the exclusive naming rights to my house for 2 or 3 million.

Scotiabank Arena?  Sounds so flat to me.  Cripes, the Air Canada Centre or the ACC, Skydome.  All are fine.  The Rogers Centre not so much.

Corporate names don't give a classy ring to a venue, save for some.

Madison Square Garden?  Stay classy.

Would've definitely rather have had Scotia Gardens or something. Arena is the flatest name for a venue such as this.

Our very own Rob was quoted for this story.

I could see the headlines already...Leafs lose and it's "team X steals 2 points from the Vault!", Leafs win..."Leafs bank 2 points at the Vault!"

Yeah, I'm bored.

From Scotiabank's perspective, this might have made the name change less unpopular, but it would've been counter productive to the purpose of the name change to begin with: marketing the Scotiabank brand.

Way to cover all your bases there.

Biggest trade of the off-season.

Isn't this a UFA signing?

Haha, you've gone me one better.  Well done.

Huge overpayment, IMO. Like UFA signings tend to be.

Exactly.  And, as the later years of the contract come upon us, Scotiabank's skills are likely to decline, and then we'll have to concoct some pretext to put them on long-term injured reserve, and ... er .... uh .... nevermind.
