Game Notes

COL
?Varlamov (5-12-0, 3.34 GAA, .897 Sv%) likely starts, he had a .625 Sv% in 32:48 minutes of action last night
?The Avs are of course coming off an embarrassing 10-1 loss last night against Montreal
?I'm not sure if there will be line shuffling after their last game, but their current lines are something else. John '1C' Mitchell cleared waivers about a month ago
?Remember when Colorado traded ROR because they had too many centres?
?Colorado is currently last in the league

TOR
?Bibeau is poised to make his first career NHL start
?Babcock confirmed that Carrick will replace Marincin, who left last nights game early
?He also confirmed that Nylander will play with Matthews
?Leivo will remain out

Admittedly I'm not watching Avs games so I can't speak to defensive responsibilities but Duchene is a good faceoff guy and has been taking them this year. So the extent to which he's a winger is, at least, somewhat blurred.

The kind of errors that didn't happen when herman was in charge.

Thanks for the hard work.

I'm not saying CtB is wrong exactly. The Avs may be shuffling Duchene between the wing and center or he may be taking some draws and then playing the wing(he's taking about 9 draws a game, whereas someone like Bozak is taking 16 per).

I'm just saying that the Avs do have two pretty good C's in Mackinnon/Duchene. They very well might not be using them in that way though.

Yeah, that was more-so my point. Duchene certainly hasn't been fully converted to a winger but I've seen line-ups from Colorado all season long and he's often been listed as the winger. I've found that very strange.

Hopefully tonight will be the start of locking down that back-up position for the Biebs. One solid performance and he's almost there.

We have not been very good on the second half of back to back.

COL, had there asses handed to them last night. I think it is going to be high scoring game. I hope that the Leafs can win

Just to be clear, I was just joking.  The first comment, not the appreciation comment, that was sincere.

I agree with your point on Duchene.  I think he's underutilized playing on the wing.  It's also strange to see John Mitchell as your "#1" center.  Particularly with his rocking 1 point (1 goal) in 21 games this year.

These two lines are killer good.

JVR-Bozak-Marner
Hyman-Matthews-Nylander

Hope Bibeau has a good first game, give the team a reason to play for him. We need a good back-up.

Go Bibeau, lets hope you are the back up and step up man we have been looking for.

Win this one for Larry, an old friend and Notre Dame guy who died last night. Used to play with Joe the Throw.

It really sucks that Iginla's 1500th game was probably one of if not the worst loss he's ever been a part of.
