Bernier sent to Marlies on conditioning stint

Leafs announce Bernier will go to the Marlies for a 10 day conditioning stint if Reimer is healthy enough to start tomorrow.

It was probably inevitable. You couldn't keep putting him out there playing the way he was and expect the rest of the team to buy in.

That said I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't come back in 10 days regardless of how his "conditioning" stint goes.

The max time for a conditioning stint it 14 days. He'll be back in 10 for sure, I think that's part of the point, a set period of time in the AHL. Or if he's ultra terrible in the AHL then maybe waivers, but I'm sure he has a few more chances kicking around before the team does that.

"Great conditioning stint Jonathan, here get in my car with me we'll go out for a nice relaxing ride back home."

"But Lou, I never left Toron..."

"Get in the car Jonathan!"

Quel suprise? Not really, let him work his ass off with the goalie coachs and play a lot of hockey in the next two weeks. The Marlies have a pretty good cushion if he continues to falter. Hopefully he finds his way back.

Why is this being portrayed as some kind of gross mistreatment of Bernier in the media? It's not like he hasn't been given YEARS to be the #1 goalie here...

Never mind the fact that he had to agree to it, and welcomed it.

And Bernier gets a shutout in a 4-0 win.

Probably sticking it to Babcock.  I think I heard the mics pick up Bernier saying something like "my time in Toronto is about to last as long as Mandela's hockey career".

Highlights, the second half focuses on Bernier.

It was also nice to see Captain Campbell bring that little punk Soshnikov back down to earth during the celebration of the third with a tidy forearm shiver.

None of that Euro hot dogging here in Taranta kid!

;D
