Blue Jackets @ Maple Leafs - Jan. 22nd, 7:30pm - SN, Fan 590

That’s the game I think. Nylander and Matthews nearly ended our season with that accidental collision

Good for Fantilli

Mrzlikins grabbed the Leafs player preventing him from going after the puck behind the net. What the hell was that

Rielly is so slow making decisions with the puck this year. I get baby brain but it's like he's playing in mud

Olivier destroyed Rempe.... Reavo and Olivier were pretty even with slight edge to Olivier. Props to Reaves for answering the bell. They chucked bombs.

Sure and he has an .876 SV% in the NHL. He still might be good but it's time for him to stay in the AHL and develop. He loses the posts a lot
Murray won again with the Marlies last night while only allowing 1 goal. Still kinda baffled he didn't get the start here last night.

The rest of the league loves to mess with the Leafs and waivers. It seems to me as though they are doing everything possible to avoid being put in a position where Murray would have to be put on waivers.

Hildebey was awful and we probably won't see him again for a long while... but... you need to score to win. The Leafs dominated for long stretches at a time and then CLB would score on their next shot. The Leafs were the better team last night for most of that game. Reilly, Domi and Holmberg were garbage as well last night.

I was at the game and my favourite parts were: the warmup (McCabe tossed a puck to my son), the fight, the Matthews stick trade, and watching Marner/Matthew/Nylander in person is unreal.

The fight: the crowd was going crazy, not sure what Matthews was talking about.

The warmup: watching Matthews/Marner in the warm up is amazing and maybe my favourtie part about going to a game, they pass to each other through about 20 skates and they always find each other, towards the end of warmup they would shoot simutaneously and I think they were trying to hit each others puck mid air and they actually did.

That's what I think to. Drag it for as long as they can so when Murray is up, it's for the rest of the season and the playoff drive. Sorry, Hildeby's development.

That's why he hasn't been up here for most of the time yeah but at this point the waivers threat has kind of passed. Murray gets a 30 day and 10 game clock before he's eligible for them again. By my count he's at 5 days and 2 games. Stolarz is probably/hopefully back after the 4 Nations break.

If they had called Murray up even the day before last nights game and kept him here until the final game before the break that would be an additional 19 days. He would have played the Columbus game and maybe 1 or 2 more games. That would put his tracker at 24 days and 4-5 games before Stolarz would hopefully be good to return. And that's assuming they don't yo-yo him and Hildeby on any off days, which they certainly could if they wanted to.

So yeah he could have been called up 2 days ago, spent the entire time on the Leafs roster until the break, and still comfortably sent back down to the Marlies with some days/games to spare. And if they needed Murray again later in the season they would ideally be able to call him up via emergency recall which they only didn't do this time when Stolarz was hurt because he was also hurt at the same time.

Just in terms of the games, I believe he doesn't have to play for them to count. He just has to be in the lineup - which, if he's the backup, he would be considered to be.

I dunno, I'm pretty sure that's not the case. A goalie serving as a back-up isn't counted as a game played in any other situation. I mean I could be wrong but I'd be very surprised if that was the case.

Yeah. I know, but, the league is often weird about stuff like that. He's considered in the lineup if he's dressed, but, doesn't get credit for a game played if he doesn't see the ice. I could be wrong, but that's how I've understood it working in the past.
