Blues @ Leafs - Mar. 7th, 7:00pm - CBC, Fan 590

Rielly's having a very rough game, that's the 3rd goal that I'd kinda pin on him. Not that he's the only player playing bad, but those goals against magnify it.

Yeah. Pretty clear it was Bernier's fault in the 1st.

I think that was the old "change the goalie to motivate your team" move. Obviously pretty clear that didn't work.

They're playing in an NHL hockey game, he should have known better.

I'm an hour out from Toronto. If somebody offered me free tickets I still wouldn't go to any game this season.

I don't want to rain on your parade Glen Healy but in a 5-0 game it's actually impossible for any Leafs players to be plus players.

It'll be interesting to see whether either of these goalies are back next year.

Neither of these goalies are remotely to blame tonight.

That's an interesting observation, and it has nothing to do with what I posted.

I'm reluctantly going to the game against San Jose because my dad got tickets. At the very least, it could be fun to see this mess close up.

I guess? But that would be a weird move to make unless either goalie is in high demand this off-season which, at this point, seems pretty unlikely.

I take your point, but surely it's easy to see why someone would respond with that given you said it when the team is trailing 5-0.

Well, the decision has to be driven not by what you'd get for them in trade, which as you say won't be much.  It's whether the brass thinks either is worth keeping during the rebuild.

If I had to guess, I'd say they keep Bernier.  His calmer-in-the-net style firs better with a young, learning team.

But neither one has shown anything like the consistency needed from a #1 on a decent team.

Well, that's part of it but it's also whether or not the team would be better served by trying to move them during the off-season and then going out and signing someone to replace them or if they're better served to keep them around and deal them as impending UFA's. I don't think keeping them for next year is a commitment to keeping them around long-term.
