He made the Grabovski trade, right? And I still like the Schenn move-up.

He traded a 2nd for Grabo, that's...about it.

He signed Hagman, and that was a pretty decent move (and, in part, helped the Leafs add Phaneuf). The deadline moves he made weren't bad, either. He got pretty good value back for guys like Kilger and Gill. Overall, though, he probably did a little more harm than good.
 
Wow, not a good ending to the first 2 games for Quick.  Gives up a pretty routine looking wrist shot from Barret Jackman with under 1:00 left in the 3rd and the Blues win 2-1.

I give Quick credit for keeping them in the game up until that point, but yeah.. not a good goal.

The Blues look like a damn good team right now though.
 
After being so strong on the road in the playoffs last year, the Kings must be wondering what is going on after losing two in a row to start this year's playoffs!
 
L.A. took a 3 games to 2 series lead by defeating the Blues 3-2 in OT.  While the game saw both teams trying to outdo each other in the hitting dept., it seemed as though St. Louis was showIng symptoms of fatigue.  Compounding matters was the work of Blues' netminder Brian Elliot who had some trouble handling the OT game.

Jeff Carter & Drew Doughty were standouts for the Kings, while the Blues Alexander Steen continued his outstanding playmaking for the Blues.

Kings win the game & series.  Final score:  L.A.2  St. Louis 1  Kings win series 4 game to 2.

Goaltender Jonathan Quick, defenseman Drew Doughty are probably the two major reasons why L.A. finished off the Blues on home ice.  L,A., sporting one of the league's best home records in the regular season, continued that mastery in these playoffs.  Add to that a pair of important series-extending wins in St.Louis' own building and that equalled success.

The Blues, while one of the league's good teams with a capable defence corps as well as  depth on all four offensive lines, couldn't get past an L.A. team that used the neutral-zone trap to stymie the Blues at every turn, especially as the series wore on.  Couple that with relentless foreoheoking -- this series featured two of the hardest hitting teams in the playoffs-- that may have 'worn' down the Blues, in Games 5 & 6.

All in all, great playoff series.
